I’m reading along with that and have my iyashi spot filled right now (which is part of why I’m pretty waffly). I know BL isn’t everyone’s thing but maybe we pause until after the BL club is done and take the temperature again?
I want to join but I’m feeling pretty busy with all the stuff I have on my plate right, now so I didn’t vote this time I’ll be likely to join at my own pace though but I didn’t feel comfortable committing.
It’s pretty much that time! The current BL iyashikei pick will be ending this week, so checking around
- Things are still too busy for me; let’s delay again
- I think I’m good to read now
I’m thinking we do the same thing with the next vote that we did with the Children’s club vote: unlimited votes, only continuing with a book club if a certain minimum of people vote for the winner. Does that sound okay with everyone?
So it looks like reception is kind of lukewarm at the moment. I personally will abstain from running another poll for a while; if anyone else is interested in running a voting poll and taking care of all the threads, feel free. For me personally, assuming a book doesn’t get picked in the meantime, I’ll likely run another check early on in the new year assuming I don’t forget; hopefully we’ll have some good participation then!
And we’re back~~

I hate that that was my vote, but I’m already wondering if I have book space for the regular LN book club seeing as I’m planning on reading the beginner LN book and the WK IBC book…
Well. On the one hand I already have several BC starting in January that I’m interested in.
On the other hand the current nominations aren’t very interesting to me anyway (could it be that they have a joseimuke sland that’s not quite representative of the genre?). I’d have four or so nominations, though one of them already had a WC BC.
I think I will be ready at the end of February when I get back from Japan!
Of course (as always) more nominations would be great.
Nah, I totally understand that. One of my new year’s goals is to limit my book club participation, in all honesty, because it’s so easy to go overboard.
How would you guys (+ lurkers) feel about wiping the nom slate clean and starting fresh? Is that a deciding factor for anyone?
I wouldn’t worry about anything that’s had a WK club already. Different forum, different set of readers. If people don’t want to read it they won’t vote for it, and if they do they will.
Fine with me (but we’ve also established that I probably won’t join in so… )
I’m trying to only join clubs where I either already have the book, or reading the book aligns well with my language goals (obviously reading any book in Japanese is going to help there, but you know what I mean ). So if we picked something from my tbr or a level 28ish LN with an audiobook I’d be tempted. But my tbr doesn’t skew particularly iyashikei (
), and we tend towards manga in this club.
Ah, I like that addendum.
I should probably adopt this myself… I definitely overdid it with offshoots from the WK intermediate manga club this fall.
I don’t think it needs to be wiped! There’s good stuff on there, we just need more options (and maybe a nomination drop policy after a few votes.)
I might nominate some things after I know the results of my Japan book haul in February.
I would nominate more, but honestly, I don’t know what qualifies that I’d be interested in nominating! I’m always worried that my version of 癒し系 is not the equivalent of someone else’s 癒し系.
The only thing that might happen is that it does not get many votes.
I suppose I’m more worried about the during reading part; “eefara, is everything okay in your life?”
Now I’m even more curious.
I could give you at least four manga from my wish list that are tagged Iyashikei, but I‘m too lazy to fill out the nomination template.
Post them here maybe and someone else could do all the hard work for you?
Here they are:
Hopefully no one of them is already on your lists.
Oh nice, I’ve wanted to read this one for a while. I definitely don’t mind nominating for you!
