Reason(s) for nominating: Nominating for @mic, plus it’s been on my to-read list for a while.

… when I order books I pretty much always get what I ordered. There’s only been a mixup once or twice (actually my Japanese might have improved enough to read whatever mystery book wrapped in a 時をかける少女 cover I was sent).

So, I take it we can nominate stuff? No crazy rules about when to nominate how much?

Are most slice of life and comedy works fine, even if they don’t have a iyashikei tag? I don’t think a precise definition of iyashikei exists.

I probably won’t read this because I currently plan to stay with the anime. But it’s the most healing anime I’ve seen. I think it can cure depression. You’d think the premise would get old soon. But it didn’t within the whole first season. The premise is that 姫 is held prisoner by the daemons and tortured for information. But the torture is always the most wholesome temptation imaginable. And every one is super kind.

This one has a WK BC. I don’t know much about it except that it’s famous, has an anime adaption and II own the first 3 volumes from a sale. I think it would technically also qualify for the yuri BC and the MC is a robot?

This one has its healing properties from its beautiful art. Just look at the clothes. Story wise it follows various young married couples in 19th century (?) continental Asia. I’ve read the first 13 volumes in translation and plan on reading volumes 14 and 15 in Japanese. But I wouldn’t mind rereading the first volume in Japanese.

I know nothing about it. I think it was free on Bookwalker. The synopsis suggests it has dialect, so that would be a challenge.

I quite enjoyed the anime. It’s cute and funny and 4koma (but the better kind with 4 big instead of 8 tiny panels per page). But unlike those Manga time kirara titles, this one has boys (probably still more girls, but the MC and his best friend provide some diversity and representation).

Basically the same things I said for tanaka-kun. The setting is fantastical. Fuwafuwa plays a big role here. It’s a bit pervy at times (for humor, nothing titillating). Unfortunately one character has a shota obsession, so maybe that’s a no.

Cute comedy mostly focused on elementary school children, but also a little their older siblings. There was one scene where a kid cried at the thought of losing her TCG cards that actually made me cry with how adorable it was.

The same thing but as yuri? Here it’s more focused on the two main characters.

Already has a BC. See Home Thread for 徒然日和 1 | L21 - Starts Jan 5th we start January 5. And I am quite excited as this is a favorite of mine and I want to discuss how awesome this is with everyone.

———

Maybe that’s a bit much at once for nominations and I might do a selection later (probably ヨコハマ買い出し紀行 | L23 and 乙嫁語り 1 | L24). But I wanted to show what iyashikei is for me. I think it’s a little different from the current nominations. More comedy and shounen. And maybe that encourages others to nominate what their stuff which is yet again different.

Normally the rules ask that we wait one week in between nominations, but I’d be willing to waive that if you guys are since we’re trying to kick things back into gear again. There are 11 slots left open for noms, so I’d say limit yourself to maybe 3 nominations for now, wait to see who else would like to nominate stuff, and depending on the volume of noms going forward you can nominate more from there.

The official tag line of the club is “We read books that are healing, comforting, and relaxing! :person_in_lotus_position:”, which is definitely quite broad. I’d say we’re still a young enough club that if you think your nomination promotes those qualities, it should generally be fair game.

Please make that all interested in nominating use the official nomination template, found in the home post!

Reason(s) for nominating: This one has its healing properties from its beautiful art. Just look at the clothes. Story wise it follows various young married couples in 19th century (?) continental Asia. Though I think the first volume stays in one village. I’ve read the first 13 volumes in translation and plan on reading volumes 14 and 15 in Japanese. But I wouldn’t mind rereading the first volume in Japanese. In fact it could help familiarize me with the names and vocabulary in Japanese. It would also incentivize me to buy the other books in Japanese, which would look better my shelf.

Since it’s gotten a bit buried, here’s the link for our current “do you want to vote on and read a new book” poll. I also added a link in the OP!

We currently have 5 voters, and it’s looking like the club may sleep for a bit more if no more vote for good to go. I don’t really have a particular threshold in mind to set up a new vote, but five people seemed a bit small.

Oh, yeah, not ordering, I’m going to Japan on a trip and planning on dropping into every bookstore I spot!

Also, I would vote for lots of those suggestions! Especially ヨコハマ買い出し and the ramen one?

The summary mentions the death of parents.

Reason(s) for nominating: I bought this book because I liked the feel of the cover and know little about it, but when I googled it it was tagged as #癒やし

Oh nice; this is only our second non-manga on the nom list. Ah, and happy to see we now have 9 voters in the current poll. I’ll check back at the end of this week to see if we get any more (and particularly if we get more giving the club the green light), and depending on how things go, we may be voting on our next book soon!

(Sorry this is late.) All right, so we’re about half and half on the poll. I’m going to open up voting and we’ll see where the votes lie. Same as what we did with the Children’s club revival vote: unlimited votes for this poll, and in the case where voter participation is once again low, we’ll go with the top book if it’s got at least 4 people interested.

This poll will close on January 27. Please see the nomination list here for links to the nomination posts.

Note: please vote via cover, not book title. I messed up and switched some titles and covers; book covers will be accurate.

2 of the entries don’t have matching titles/covers. :eyes:

Ah shoot, sorry about that. :\ Usually I’m a bit better about catching that before posting.

I voted based on the covers instead of the title links. Hope that’s correct.

Yes, covers should be accurate!

Just a reminder to those who have and haven’t voted, please vote based on book cover, not title, due to my error. I’ve added a note before the poll itself as well.

Bumping~ Please vote if interested! We currently have a 5-way-tie. If the tie continues, I’ll post a tie-breaker vote after the formal vote closes.
