I think I haven’t been very active myself in the thread so I guess I can’t complain will try to remember to write more from now on, so there will be something to read whenever everyone gets there!
Thanks @Mara I don’t have any opinion about an extra catch-up week. I generally prefer to not have them, but that’s because otherwise I forget what happened earlier. This time around I’ve taken notes so I should be fine!
I wonder if a poll on what chapter everyone is on would be fun? At the end of this week the book club is officially half-way through.
I don’t mean that we should change the schedule at all based on the poll, and I’m not really worried about being “with the group”. I don’t feel too far behind and it’s still fun to comment on the threads (whichever week).
Anyway, it would be kinda fun to know where everyone is!
I know the chapters are somehow loosely related, but now that I was almost 3 weeks behind, I decided to just skip to the current week and catch up on the past ones later on, as to not lag behind too much (and lose motivation). I’ll try to be more active in the latest threads
I’d say that so far blue should go before red, but most of the other ones don’t matter all that much as far as I’ve gotten. Red happens after an event that blue talks about in the beginning of the chapter, but even that’s not a huge spoiler as far as any of these things go.
I won’t be here for the last week of reading so decided that I might as well finish the book now, instead of having a long break before the last chapter.
Thanks for hosting the club @Mara !
Thoughts on the book
The detective work was fun and I was enjoying the book at the beginning, but unfortunately I ended up not liking it so much. I would have preferred a shorter cast but longer and deeper connections with them. I think the Ralph and Cindy chapters especially were the ones I enjoyed the least. I can see why the book can be liked though, just not my preferred genre at the moment. Would like to give the author a go again another time though.
Almost forgot to post the link for this week’s thread!
Btw, I told my tutor that I’m reading this and she decided to get it too and she really liked it!! She’s actually on the same chapter as us at the moment!
Thank you @Mara for hosting the book club and everyone who posted their comments on the book.
I found myself enjoying reading everyone’s comments more than the book itself, especially from chapter 2 onwards. This is my first time reading this genre, and I had high hopes for it. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The first two chapters were great, but I began to get bored by the repetitive style of each chapter after that. The final chapter also lacked the happily ever after ending that I had hoped for. I guess mystery and investigation will remain my favourite genre for now.
