Otoh I love Ayaka here… Like even if it had turned out Hiroko was straight, that was pretty harsh

It’s fun so far. I wish the series had setup why Hiroko thinks Ayaka is ノンケ… Like I didn’t find “all the guys like her” to be that convincing a reason. Otoh I see why this actually felt organic as a JDrama, cuz it’s basically that level of ridiculous already

I’m looking forward to chapter 2, which I’ll get to soon I hope - Oh actually I read Ch 2 already!!

It was okay. I did want to read further when I was reading. But now that I’ve put it down I’m not dying to pick it up again. But own pace sounds acceptable to me.

This bc is a bit of a farce anyway with just two people and me generally not writing much unless the book is a favorite of mine or in reply. But I didn’t want to let the book club die…

As for the first two chapters: I was a bit surprised that 彩香 kept frowning. From the cover I thought she was totally bubbly. And I didn’t know ノンケ or ビアン even though I’ve read many Yuri titles and a few bl titles.

読み終わってもうた

I ended up reading the entire series in one sitting, and wrote up a review here. Overall I’m glad I finally read this iconic series, and see why it’s as well regarded as it is - despite the comedic elements being a bit over the top/unrealistic for me.

I’ve previously seen a few eps of the drama, and this makes me curious to watch the rest now - curious to see how they compare.

Very short chapter thoughts below:

Ch 3-4

Ch 3 - Karaoke was a lot of fun. Damn, Ayaka has some metaphorical balls. The end of the chapter felt pretty unrealistic to me, but I know that’s the bit.

Ch 4 - I appreciate how hard the bentou was for Ayaka to make, and how even though it wasn’t the best, Hiroko still genuinely enjoyed it

ch 5-6

Ch 5 - Hiroko’s thinking she’ll try to help Ayaka get with Yuya is hilarious. Also wow Ayaka went boss on that presentation

Ch 6 - omg that first scene, what I love that Hiroko’s pushing Yuya to reward her leads to this. As usual I find it impossible to buy that Hiroko is this dense… But I liked that late night conversation after all the nonsense

ch 7-9

Ch 7 - best friend setting them up on a date This chapter has my favorite moment in the entire volume: best friend examining and noticing her feelings for Ayaka, and immediately accepting the whole situation. She’s my favorite character in all this btw… Otoh that “like a neice” line at the end, oof

Ch 8 - seeing how the two besties met, and then also seeing how the confession played out and they decided to be friends still was really, really cool. My 2nd favorite moment, even though it’s arguably a bit unrealistic

Ch 9 - them going to the lesbian bar was great, but running into Hiroko there the icing on the cake!!

Sorry I don’t have more detailed commentary

I finished volume 1. I kinda liked 理沙 best. Her having feelings for 彩香 and then getting over it was both a bit sudden. I feel like I’m more invested on 理沙 and 彩香 friendship then 彩香 and 弘子. I’m undecided if it’s worth it to read the other two volumes.
