Now that you put it like that it sounds a little extreme.
I firmly believe that mysteries are best started slowly and then finished in one breath. Splitting (what I assume is) the solution to the mystery didn’t make much sense to me, but it is long.
In any case, while the ramp up as you go schedule makes sense generally, me and I’m sure others here will be following multiple concurrent book clubs in November, so maybe going faster in the beginning when we still have more free time also makes a lot of sense. I guess I’d better be neutral in this poll like you, and let others decide.
Oh gosh, wasn’t meant that way! I also don’t think you need to be neutral if you have a clear preference. I went for that because I looked at them and was like “eh, I could do either” and didn’t have strong feelings on it.
Ahhh I forgot the audiobook sorry! I can’t edit a poll once people have voted in it though
My copy just came in! Along with a bunch of other stuff (apologies for spamming the activity log with Athakaspen Marked as Owned, lol). It’s a slightly chunky bunko with fairly dense text (18 columns per page), so it’ll be good to read across 2-ish months. It also has that rough-cut top edge like Shincho Bunko do, though sadly no ribbon bookmark.
I copied the character list from the book to the OP for easy reference. I did double-check, but it’s always possible there are typos, so if you refer to it please take the time to check that all information is correct
The reading schedule is posted at the top of each weekly thread for ease of reference, with the current reading bolded. I think if we add it to the top post the following discussion might become confusing to follow.
However, I’m not going to worry too much if that’s what folks feel is more convenient for them.
We shouldn’t have an inaccurate reading schedule in the home thread, though, right? If someone wanted to remind themselves of the schedule, or if they’re new, it’d be confusing if they saw the old one, started reading, then realized the schedule didn’t match in the individual threads.
I agree with this. The first post in the home thread should have updated information as it’s the one place any newcomer will be sure to look at. We can keep the outdated information under a details tag for historical reasons if we like, but it’s the current schedule people are more likely to be looking for.
Too much going on IRL with the JLPT & various Interviews this month; although, I’ve read week 1 and will try and catchup (or at least finish the book!) once it’s all over.
Loving the character list. I’ll be using that when I catch up!
There hasn’t been too much in terms of crazy plot developments (which is very typical for mysteries IMO - slow burns at the start) so don’t worry about it too much The threads also stay open to be posted in.
Although I have no idea how long I know WK had to change the default for book clubs, I’m assuming we have whatever comes standard for Discourse.
