Random question but does the book get easier after the first page or so?
I know some books the first few pages are a bit of a struggle then things get a bit easier (I expect vocab to evolve in difficulty depending on what’s being spoken about). I kinda want to read this but the first page took me ages and even then I was only really half understanding it if at all 
The first few pages are harder than once you get to dialogue, but there are some descriptions later on that are more difficult again. L29 feels pretty accurate to me so far, fwiw.

And def ask any questions you have. I’m also finding it a bit of a challenge compared to other beginner LN picks but it’s a good challenge.
I feel like pretty much every book gets easier once you read a certain amount of pages because you get used to the setting, the vocab and the grammar. So if you want to read it: Give it a few more pages.
But yeah, this is hard. Literally the only reason I can read it at all at my level of experience is because of digital dictionary lookups, digitally added furigana and the ease of copying fragments into ChatGPT to get a better understanding of the structure.
Lack of furigana is a killer for me unless I know the kanji and can guess the meaning of the word. I’m working on that though. It’s a physical copy I have.
Tried looking for a vocab deck on JPDB or such but there doesn’t seem to be anything yet which just means it will take me longer to read if I can stick with it.
The small excerpts I’ve seen in quotes on here have been easy enough for me to read though I know that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

(Especially because my kanji knowledge is as extensive and deep as a puddle on the street. In a dry country. In summer.)

You can search words using radicals, but you don’t need every radical in a kanji like the jisho radical search. So if I see 陽射し in a book I can search like this:
And it comes up.
Also recommended if (like me) you don’t know your radicals well: https://jotoba.de’s radical search that allows you to search for kanjis that are made of radicals of kanjis you know.
E.g. let’s say I’m searching for 峠. I see 下 in there. No idea what radicals 下 is made of though (it’s an example, don’t be hard on my hypothetical self!), so I go…
I have very few books in ebook format for Japanese unless it’s learner material
I just prefer the feel of it and it saves my eyes. That and I don’t think Amazon uk is great for selection of digital books in foreign languages at times.
Thanks, I didn’t know about that one. Been using either google to draw it then put it into DeepL, kanji look up or Takoboto apps unless I have the furigana then it’s usually just DeepL I use.
