ドッペル階段 - […] But rewinding for a sec… What was she doing on Lilian’s campus, since like the afternoon. I assume just exploring, bc it’s the closest she could get to ever actually going there? But still, that’s a lot of time. I’m surprised she wasn’t way more flustered, when confronted… also that it was just Tsutako & Yumi who put it together. Tho I guess that makes some sense, done Yumi & Alice do hang sometimes

I was also wondering about that What to do with so much time available Would be nice to get some hint at that in the following short story collections, though I think this probably won’t happen :-/

I’m still stuck at volume 30. Not because I feel stuck but because my focus wandered to another book which I’m dedicating my reading time to currently

Forgot to mention here, but I watched and was mostly dissatisfied with the live action movie.

Also finished vol 34, which was enjoyable enough. I liked the frame story a lot. Since the next 3 volumes are all side stories that don’t directly focus on the main cast, I put them off for whenever I’m in the mood.

Do hope to read Friends | L28?? soon, but I’ve been reading 吉屋信子 instead lately. Also started reading the interview with Konno sensei in ユリイカ 2014年12月号 特集=百合文化の現在 | L39 - which so far has given some background on how she conceived the story and characters

Just finished マリア様がみてる 1 | L27 (manga). It’s pretty good, and covers all of book 1, without dropping or consolidating too much. Very lively and jam packed, and you can tell the mangaka really loves the series. Definitely turned the romance and emotions up to 11 visually. And at least for me it, it felt dense, but easy to read - and contrary to the original and anime adaptation, it never dragged for me.

I don’t recommend the physicals, bc there’s no inner margin, so you have to reaaaaally open the pages to catch the text a lot of the time - which I hate doing

I have to wonder how it would be for first time readers. But also it’s a good stepping stone towards the novels, if someone’s not quite at the level for them yet

We’ll have to swap out Yumi x Sachiko for Yoshino x Rei then. Tho I can’t imagine Yoshino ever calling out お姉さん like that

It clearly understands the heart of the show - though it doesn’t understand honorifics. Should be お姉さま

Well it happened again right on her face. I reaaally wonder how this happens this episode it first appeared on the OP and then there were no subs for a few dozen seconds and then this. Afterwards subs continued as normal.
I expect generated subs to have some issues but this is bizarre and I never experienced anything like it before.

yesterday I don’t know why but probably the winter months put me more into the mood to focus on Marimite

Though, I kind of struggeld picking up this book again after I left off in summer, because my 栞 fell off and I hadn’t updated Natively statistics. So while trying to find, where I left off, I almost everywhere had a feeling of deja-vu

Spoilers, some thoughts of book 31

As a fan of Eriko-sama I really enjoyed the story with her and her target lover’s daughter

It was also fun to see how Sei ended up in Italy and behaving typically Sei-like with the speaking bird Also kind of cool that Kei did not even had to try teaching the bird something but ot just learned. Hehe. Sei was not amused

I did not expect such cool stories about Yumis umbrella. Those small pieces were really interesting

Alright 31 is finished! Overall the easiest read of the short story volumes, tho I got bored during the umbrella story (which was true the first time around too). Even that had some great moments tho.

I had to laugh once I found your post about the 31st volume and this thought

Shimako’s family history: wow that’s intense & fascinating. But what happened that her other brother also got off track later on?! I love the way it deals with religious and familial piety, family, leaving, etc. I would have loved to see her dad’s time with his (ex) Catholic wife portrayed

Ah! Good that you mentioned this above. I also really enjoyed this and hope there will be some more background story about her other brother!

I think in this book I enjoyed the side stories more than the main story. And I really liked how Konno-sensei again put those stories together in a way that felt connected.

I finished the (probably) last volume of Marimite with the graduation of Sachiko and Rei.

I was so excited Like that’s the part I wanted to reach and thay’s the reason I started reading in Japanese. So happy right now. I also own and see some more volumes, so am excited to see what they will cover.

I finished vol 34 (side stories with some glimpses of yumiたち as 3rd years. Afaik everything else is side stories. I’ll probably get around to them this year - maybe I’ll try one in March
