Lists discussion

I thought about it. I left that one off because it left so little of an impression on me. I gave it 4 stars, but I already couldn’t tell you anything about it.

Well, a year and 7 months later, I’ve done just that: 暁のルナ's review of ラブ★コン S1 | Natively

I’ve started a list for French books that are assigned in schools. With a lot to add still, and some books that I’ve requested that I’m waiting to add to the list, but if anyone else wants to contribute with what they read in school, do tell me and I’ll add you as a contributor! @monace? Or anyone else who went to an at least partially French speaking school.

I can’t remember having assigned reading in elementary school, but I do remember some books I read at that time, and some that we read in middle school, so feel fee to add me and I might add a couple yes!

I don’t know if there’s anything that can be done about this right now, but my list is being drowned out by what is essentially the same list 4 times. At first I thought they were actually duplicates, but no it’s just the same initial list filtered to different genres… That makes me think, maybe there should be filters on list pages, by book/video title, genre, etc. Then in this case it would have been unnecessary for the user to make 4 versions of the same list.

I think filters would make a great product request. (Tho idk whether it would prevent this style of list creation, but at least it wouldn’t be necessary to make them like this).

Fwiw when I look on mobile, your list isn’t in proximity to those lists, though they’re not far either. Otoh there’s a whole separate set of those lists for intermediate as well… which yeah, that’s a lot of list clutter

I want to bring this up again. First, in general, I think we need a way to deal with spam lists, such as the option to:

  • Hide all lists by a user (either as a dedicated feature or by blocking the user)
  • Hide a specific list
  • Report a list as being innappropriate, spam, etc.

Now to these specifically, I think all the lists by user RoseTanuki should be deleted/hidden. This user has 15 lists that are basically the same thing (Mokuro with various filters), but importantly, this user has never actually read any books. This just makes it feel like an advertisement or something. Or perhaps they intended this as private lists of manga they have on their personal Mokuro account and didn’t realize these lists were public.

@brandon Any thoughts on making this user’s lists private and/or adding a way for us to block lists from a specific user?
