Chapter wasn’t bad… that first half ひゅうぅ lol. The next part kinda got a bit annoying for me again… like “why do you need to drag it out for 3-4 pgs every time you get new information?”… but anyway
Anyway, hooray for tour guide モコナ! Looks like things are about to get interesting, now that we’ve entered the 泉
On pg 92 海 calls クレフ an おぢさん and based on her comment (and his reaction) I’m assuming that’s just おじさん. I know that ぢ and じ are pronounced the same but is there any significance to using ぢ there?
In both cases the ぢ is what the historical kana spelling would use in that word, but that doesn’t explain why it randomly got dropped in here. (Also, historical kana spelling for おじさん would be をぢさん so why change only one of the kana?)
Here’s another use, in the title used for the translation of a Raymond Briggs book:
I really enjoyed this week’s reading! 風 getting a nice little moment with フェリオ, all the girls getting their magic (海’s water dragon was sick). The fountain being 2D was the cherry on top, though. I don’t know why I was so excited to see that, but it’s such a cool idea! Also, 閃光 looks more like a wolf than a dog, 光…
I was wondering if CLAMP chose that spelling to give a bit of extra oomph to how old the speaker was implying クレフ to be?
