Physical Media Megathread

If you stay in one place long enough, you can order books from other stores as well! For a home delivery you need to pay the shipping fee but a delivery to your book off of choice is free of charge.

The adventure is going in physically though .

The book-off in Fujisan was interesting. I visited 3 in Yokohama, but I forgot which one is my favourite there. As it was literarily a coincidence I got in.

In Tokyo I really liked the one in Kamata station.
The problem with the Tokyo ones is that they are plagged with 立ち読み making them hard to browse.

It’s also free of charge for large orders (I forgot the threshold but I think it’s something like 2000 jpy).

Have done that before as well, when I was looking for something very specific. But mostly I just go in to browse, have a look if anything on my “wishlist” is available in the 100 Yen section and then usually come out with books that were not on my wishlist. :see_no_evil: book offs are dangerous.

Higurashi mentioned!! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone post about the manga in the wild before lolol

It’s a light novel that one though.

Would you say the 30 rating is accurate? I’m currently working my way through the first Konosuba at level 31 and it’s alright. I’m interested in checking them out!!

That L30 is the default grading for LNs. No one has graded it yet, so it could just as well be higher or lower

You could always check out the bookwalker preview to see if it looks like something you can read right now

It’s a junior light novel, is probably easier than konosuba. Haven’t gotten around it yet, as it was a book off spontaneous purchase.

My cdjapan order has finally moved into “in shipping process” (placed a week and a half ago but it was delayed by セーラー服と機関銃 being temporarily out of stock)

I got an order from CDJapan in the mail today

I’m slowly buying Bookworm (I’ve got the first 3 now), and I bought all of 後宮の烏 since it was pretty cheap and not a very long series. I love the 後宮の烏 covers :star_struck:

Mmm, some books it’s a pity to obscure a third of the cover art with the obi…

I usually take them off and throw them out

Some of the 後宮の烏 novels had obis that took up about 90% of the covers

I almost always toss my obis and I’ve had people scandalized about this before :joy: They just get in the way! And it’s just advertising most of the time anyways…

apparently the resale value drops without the obi. and no, I don’t understand either.

(I do keep my obis, though… because I take off the whole cover to read anyways)

I’ve only kept an obi if it had information I was interested in on it, like about an upcoming adaptation. Happened a grand total of like two times. Usually I just take them off and trash them without a second thought, they’re annoying

The resale value of most of my books in America is close to zero anyways :joy:

I always use the obi as a bookmark! (Partly because I can’t bear to throw it away, but there’s no way I’m leaving it on the cover.)
