I don’t usually do sports manga, but アオノハコ looks soooooo cuuuuuuute
… definitely adding to my list!
Time for another box~
The rest of the 東京ミュウミュウ オーレ! 1 | L25 series! Although now I’ve got an extra volume 1; it’ll go on the small pile of JP books I’ve been meaning to donate… Anyway, I loved reading volume 1; it was super cute and goofy (review is in link), so I’m very happy to continue with the series.
Finally picked up physical copies of レバダン・希望の花 1 | L30 and co. after reading them all digitally (review in link). I’ve got a small pile of the mangaka’s other works digitally; I need to give them a try. Most seem to be historical fantasy or fiction of some kind, and I really enjoyed what she did with this series.
As always, my book orders are just excuses to pick up more FLESH & BLOOD 1 | L35 (<- review, and future book club book!) merchandise. Here we’ve got a nice assortment: a set of six postcards, going down the left side, a tote bag, a key strap (on said tote bag), two clear files, and the latest edition of Chara Collection Extra, an annual book distributed by Flesh&Blood’s publisher Chara containing bonus stories from their currently-published series. (No F&B in this issue, sadly, though there is a new 美しい彼 manga short. We’ll have a nice feast of content whenever I get around to taking pictures of these, @bibliothecary.)
So this next picture was a bit of a surprise; I didn’t actually order either of these things! They came with the order in the previous picture, and are by far the best “freebies” included with a JP order I’ve ever gotten. The left is a shopping bag distributed at one of the AGF events, and the right is a copy of the F&B artbook with an included clear card of that book’s cover.
(Here’s the reverse of the bag; the characters are from クリムゾン・スペル.)
What a great haul! My eyes have been blessed.
Magical boys, pre-2k BL, and 美しい彼? Pure gold!
I buy only the good stuff.
In my defense, I had a coupon. I’m also enforcing a no-buy on myself for awhile. Gotta read the books I have!
The books:
日本語で考えたくなる科学の問い〈上〉
こころ・漫画版
ソープランドでボーイをしていました
漢字ミステリ―
妖怪大図鑑
時限病棟
私の夫は冷蔵庫に眠っている
Burn
真夜中乙女戦争
Just got a new haul of 暁のヨナ volumes… Only 8 left to go!!
My whole collection thus far (except for はなにあらし 1、やがて君になる 1、and ささやくように恋を唄う 1, which I lent to a friend):
There’s some more I wanted to face forward, but it wouldn’t fit properly right now. Will have to wait for the next order!
Not pictured:
Man, those covers are so pretty. Question for you: how much romance is in the series?
Hmmm, it’s a one-true-couple, very slow burn sorta thing. The romance is definitely there, but it’s only one element of the story, and it takes a long time until it becomes prominent (like somewhere btwn vol 24-27 until we finally get a kiss/confession)
Basically it’s a fantasy story that’s also a romance, rather than a romance story that happens to be in a fantasy world; if that makes sense… I think I’ve heard different people complain both “too much” and “not enough”.
Does that help at all?
Yes, for sure. Thank you!
Damage from the trip:
I could have gone wilder but I had a dose of reality when I started carrying this around from hotel to hotel
I like the numbering on those 異世界のびり農家 spines; I bet those look great all on a shelf.
The book themselves are extremely beautiful even in the front.
I found them in a Book-Off in a rare sight to have all volumes. and I got a super nice deal because I did a bulk buy.
I got 10 volumes for less than 5EUR each.
It’s awesome when it works out so nicely like that! Congrats!
It’s funny than when you buy light novels and other more harder books in a book shop in Japan, they drop the “Oh shit, I have to speak English” and are like “Well if he’s good with this book, then he must be perfect at speaking Japanese”
yup. first trip to japan. couldn’t carry my suitcase anymore… ended up sending a package home. now I have the 2 bag strategy… big, heavy bag goes via kuroneko and I only carry what I need for a couple of nights.
My strategy usually is leave purchases for the last few days in Tokyo.
The problem is I saw these books like my second day?
But book off prices out in the sticks are usually cheaper than in Tokyo
Also, different books available in different places and in different price brackets.
I see book off, I go in.
I need this on a shirt.
