Ok that’s FedEx FICP tho, not Cdjapan afaict. The other options are cheaper on the customs fee, but I’m assuming more expensive for the base shipping cost?
That’s concerning… Also weird cuz iirc anytime they’ve sent a “we need to adjust shipping” email, it’s always come with “let us know if we can still proceed, or we’ll cancel the order” sentence

that’s always what’s happened with me…
however if it’s a special order or proxy order or whatnot…(the non cancelable kind) unless they changed the rules for everything, you then probably don’t get the choice…

I forgot what kind of order it was, I don’t think it was a proxy, it was a limited edition of something. A friend in the UK also bought the same item and got the same treatment.
It was like my first really bad experience with CDJapan, but it left a sour taste and I haven’t really looked back too much. Sadly back to AmazonJP or proxy services.

Does the rate come from FedEx and not decided by CDJapan? I dunno.
The shipping cost for DHL was more, but also you still have to pay DHL customs clearance fee directly, so I think the total customs fee would still be similar. But I was just estimating.

That was the impression I got from the various updates they gave along the way (starting from when the tariff changed for announced). If I’ve misunderstood, then my point would be moot

Today the US Supreme Court decided that the customs introduced by the President were unconstitutional. So currently there should be no more customs.

And then within hours Trump announced across the board 10% tariffs using a different approach, so it doesn’t really matter.

Only series I know from back then are yuru yuri and citrus - so I’m excited to see what else was running back then (tho no idea when I’ll actually get to it). Probly won’t look for Amazon links till I try reading them. Not even sure they’d be listed tbh

Is anyone else having trouble with Surugaya right now? I’m trying to order a few manga with the free shipping. When I try with the English UI it says there’s an error with my address. When I set the language to Japanese it says the size or weight limit is exceeded. Does anyone know if they’ve blocked shipping to the U.S. or anything like that?

I think they’ve had server issues or something. I live in Europe but when I wanted for something on there yesterday it said that the host blocked the connection or something like that. When I tried it again, it worked

I wonder if there’s something going on with Shipping from Japan. I ordered some stuff from AmazonJP, and they held the order, at first I thought they were holding it until one of the volumes released, instead of shipping them separately like they usually do.
Then they released part of the order, and how it’s on hold in Frankfurt.

I got a shipment from them 2 days ago, and I imagine their website would specify if they were no longer shipping to US. I remember I occasionally had issues like what you describe with their website in the last. Not very often. Usually cleared up in a day or two… Or if I switched browsers… Or if I looked at it the right way or something…

I also had a similar issue once but it only happened when one specific book was in my cart so I ended up just checking out without it.

Always welcome when something you started gets resumed.
As for my Vinted enterprise, the English books are selling fine, the rest not so much. Trying to get rid of unwanted Japanese books is proving harder than expected. Also noticed that Vinted is “region locked” so I don’t get access to sell on all the regions they are active.

I’m probably going to travel to S. Korea in June (assuming the world doesn’t get any crazier), so looking for stores with Japanese Media, I assume there’s some since it’s so close to Japan.
If anyone has addresses for bookstores, second hand items and such, I’d love to note them down.
