Yeah, it’s the same series that the film Bullet Train is from (aka マリアビートル).
No worries if you’ve not read any of the others, was just wondering as they’re on my list to read once I hit that stage.

I bought these recently published direct-from-Japanese translations to help me check my work as I first read the originals as ebooks, kind of like an answer key.
Really happy that Finnish publishers have become so excited about Japanese classics. Many more on the way it seems!
源氏物語 is honestly awe-inspiring as a physical book…

“Epäkelpo ihmiseksi” is an interesting translation for the title. I really like it! For non-Finnish speakers: while the English title is “No Longer Human”, the Finnish title means something like “unfit to be a human” so it’s much closer to the original 人間失格. It also has a somewhat stiff, formal or even poetic sound to it. I would never use the word “epäkelpo” casually in a conversation.

With the limited edition of the newest volume of お隣の天使様にいつの間にか駄目人間にされていた件 came this absolutely gorgeous canvas art:
So pretty! The light novel itself was on the backside of the canvas, which was fun.
Got loads of other fun stuff with it as well, but that was definitely the highlight

It pisses me off so much, when you make a big amazon order and they split it in gazzillion parcels, and they throw books without any protection in a paper evenlope.
(On the bright side, that should be some affiliate revenue to Natively )
As expected of the shipping, some OBIs came destroyed, and a book has some cover damage. I’ll live with it but it still mildly pisses me off.
Also guess which of those books where recommended by “Out of your comfort zone” Natively tool

It does surprise me still that Amazon Japan are so sloppy with their packaging, but I’ve had them do it to me and seen so many reports of it that it’s obviously their standard practice. I’m surprised Japanese consumers put up with it, they certainly have other options for buying books…

They have been doing this in all the regions. Amazon Japan didn’t use to be this sloppy, I remember them shipping in hard boxes and taped to the bottom with air around it so they wouldn’t get damaged.
Now they send stuff like glass vases in those paper envelopes, and hope they arrive in one piece.
In hindsight if these weren’t hard-ish to find books, I’d have probably just bought them in person.

main reason I stopped buying any physical from amazon (long before any tarrif bs)
I have had a couple of them actually creased or dented corners and their CS just refunded the cost of the book - might be worth reaching out to them.
wonder if the packaging and handling is good enough w/in japan local vs once it gets thrown onto a plane and manhandled by craptastic delivery companies outside japan…
oh well it’s all digital for me now anyway (for the most part)

I stopped bothering with their CS now that’s supper hard to reach and either some random algorithm or a disgruntled CS rep flagged my account and received an email from OFM saying they would ban my account if I continued having orders with problems.
People think they might be algorithms but I think more sometimes they have a nasty employee. I have received a call from them once that they wouldn’t process the refund because I gave them a bad rating, and to change the rating. I was shocked .
The result is that I only order stuff from Amazon that I can not order elsewhere and it’s usually cheap stuff.

I have never received anything physical I ordered from Amazon, they have always lost the package midway (well, a few times was all I even bothered to try), and I’ve never heard anyone else say anything good about them either. It’s absolutely wild to me that they are as big as they are.
Edit. Now that I think about it, I did actually receive one book once, but even that one was damaged.

They used to be good, and the CS was top tier.
I remember them at some point sending me a Switch game two times, and when I called them they told me to keep the second copy as to not to bother me with the return process. Mind you 60€ game.
Unthinkable nowadays. Now is they send you glass in a shitty paper envelope, it arrives broken, and you have to make 10 photos in different angles of the package and the broken item, and wait 15 days.

Another amazing Amazon packaging. One last book before hopping into my flight back. I didn’t notice it was released because Amazon has it listed as “Books 1-12 set” Instead of Volume 13…
At least this one came wrapped so even if it moved freely in that humongous box, it was fine.

I want to ask if that’s really the content good for middle schoolers. But that’s hypocritical of me, I was definitely in middle school when I watched it
