Do you typically just send a direct link of the missing cover via the book’s feedback button?
Yep! Or the feedback button on the series page if more than one is missing, and in the note I just make clear which link goes to which book.
My feedback’s something like “Cover image is available from (source): (direct image link)”, and they usually get put up within a couple days.
Nice, I’ll have to keep that in mind, then.
Oh, I didn’t realise we could override the Amazon ones on request. There’s a few Amazon that have the annoying Jump sidebar or the obi still on it that I should request refreshes on… (the iTunes book store is pretty good about this, I find)
I don’t mind the sidebars so much, but the obi make me want to scream
Is there a reason the “More information” section is only available for certain curated books, and isn’t user-editable like the “Where to find” section is?
From what I understand, a lot of manga here had their tags automatically populated from their linked Anilist entry, right? But since the “More information” section isn’t made when new books are added and users can’t freely contribute Anilist links, new books all come in with 0 tags and stay that way until someone manually adds some. (I’m guilty of manually copy-pasting all of the Anilist tags onto the books I contribute and any random manga I see without )
There’s a typo in there too (“laguages”)…
I feel like lately I’ve seen Natively randomly switch to Japanese a lot. Not sure if it’s a bug though, but it’s been mildly annoying.
I’ll search for a book in Korean, see several matching books proposed, click search and then get the “no results” page because it suddenly switched to Japanese Natively.
I haven’t had the language actually change, but I’ve noticed that if I return to the tab the language icon has often switched itself from Korean to Japanese. On these occasions I haven’t been looking at the Japanese site in another tab (which can cause its own problems ), and if I click through to book search or something it’s still in Korean and the icon is back to normal.
It’s a small issue, but it’s odd!
I’ve been getting “Issues with our servers” occassionally while trying to add TV shows, most recently for 소년장수 (TV Series 1982-2019) — The Movie Database (TMDB).
How do we correct errors in submitted works - such as a book that was combined on Amazon as a ‘set’ instead of 3 individual books?
Another point, how to we add a book that is part of a set but is not on Amazon. I had submitted ファイナルファンタジーXI -祈りの風- 1 | L23 some time ago and it only grabbed the book 1, not book 2. The book also is not searchable really under Final Fantasy or other options; making it (and others) very difficult to find.
According to the book request page, ONLY books that are available on Amazon can be added. Maybe exceptions can get made considering there are Tadoku & Aozora books in the catalogue, and there’s a “let us know about books that aren’t on Amazon” contact link on the request page, but when I’ve requested books from other retailers, I never got a response and just had to wait until some marketplace seller finally listed them on Amazon /:
For correcting issues that are carried over from the Amazon page, you can try explaining the issue using the “Have feedback?” button on the book page. I’m not sure how much of a hassle they are to fix though, since usually I have feedback answered within a couple days, but the one time I sent one that required changing the Amazon listing it took months to fix. And since each book needs to be attached to its own Amazon listing, I’m not sure anything would be able to be done if Amazon is only selling them as a set?
It would be really nice to have more options for retailers when requesting books, to get around issues like this
There’s a feedback button on each page that you can submit issues to:
It’s a human (I’m assuming Brandon ) who responds to everything, so if you explain what needs done it’ll eventually get corrected.
For series that don’t have the series function on its page, a list of the links in series order has worked for me in the past either when making the book in the “anything else about this book” box or using the feedback button on an already created book.
I’ve only encountered one Aozora work that wasn’t also on Amazon fwiw. Whenever I add new ones I use the Amazon link and submit the Aozora one in the comments
Alright this weekend then I will submit if there is still an issue. Thanks.
I noticed something looking at the Natively homepage for the first time in a while, logged out
I’m not sure about the stats/status of German and Spanish, but my impression from the forums is that Korean is about as solid as Japanese was when I joined the site. Maybe it could graduate from beta?
I wonder if not having the beta tag may also make people more confident to sign up and give things a whirl (assuming it is at that point!)
Thoughts on this @brandon ?
It’s a bit hard to be honest. We’ve struggled to get really solid core in korean of books & movies covering all difficulty regions. We probably do have enough at this point to make a few more ‘benchmarks’ but I have to put in a bit more work I think.
It’s a good callout though!
For new ongoing TV series that used to have an unknown runtime on TMDB, is there a way to update previous watch sessions to include the correct total runtime of episodes instead of 0?
I tried to add the 56 mins manually but the upper limit still shows as 0 and I don’t see any increase in my video stats like “Hours Watched” or “Hours Timed”.
EDIT: Deleting my watch session and episode data and then trying to add a completed episode through the Progress Update module with time spent, correctly updated my “Hours Watched” stats but the info on how much time I actually spent was not reflected in my “Hours Timed” stats. So I had to open the Data Manager and add a timed watch session manually which finally updated my “Hours Timed” stats. Although, it is weird because the Data Manager interface still shows “Finished 56/0 mins”. At this point, I clicked “Add” and “Delete” so many times on this series that I wouldn’t be surprised if I got myself into a weird state there.
Is there a way to see if you already have an ongoing feedback request for a book? I’ve been noticing several books for Korean that have levels that are completely nonsensical, but now that I’ve reported a few I can’t remember which ones I did send a feedback request about
Nope, unfortunately not. My best advice at the moment is just to re-submit. Worst case scenario brandon has to check off a duplicate ask.
