It doesn’t. I reported this already back in May or June, after trying the same
I’m hoping there isn’t too much rush trying to get new languages in; I can think of a long, long list of bugs and general utility improvements for the current Natively that’d be really nice to have before any more major content updates like a new language.
This might or might not be related to the new upload process, but I noticed that some of the new series I had request are inconsistent on whether volumes past volume 1 are pulled for them or not:
神の棘 | L30?? - correctly brought in both volumes
流血女神伝 | L30?? and 流血女神伝 ~帝国の娘~ | L24?? - did not bring over any volumes, and Amazon sync shows as “never”
I clicked the sync button on one of them, and it said it would queue the series for a sync, but either enough time hasn’t passed for the sync to happen, or it’s not syncing.
Agreed! Everyone who I’ve chatted with wrt collaborating knows infrastructure top priority for the next while…
I’m just excited is all, mostly because I got an email recently about it ![]()
Awesome! And I definitely understand your excitement, haha; I know the dodgy Amazon apis have been a thorn in your side for a while.
恋より青く | L20 hasn’t been synced in a quite while (the series page doesn’t show a Last Synced date). I may have made things worse when I got volume 4 specifically added as it own separate entity 恋より青く 4 | L24?? .
I just noticed that some shows I know are showing on Crunchyroll right now aren’t showing as available via JustWatch on that show’s page. I checked JustWatch’s site and the Crunchyroll info shows there; could there be an issue parsing the data returned by their api @brandon?
Do you have any privacy settings in your browser or IP masking that might trigger a different location that the show is not available in your region?
So i’ve fixed these series. There was a general issue with the sync that was introduced with the new code which was breaking that sync for all amazon series. I’ve fixed that but i’m still finding one off issues with general flakiness in the sync.. will try to address at somepoint.
This one actually doesn’t have an amazon series page which makes auto syncing impossible. There is a process for adding a book to such series but it’s not automated for users and not getting handled right now.. definitely a process to improve.
In any case, i’ve manually fixed this one for you.
I don’t think so. But I’ll need to double-check. ![]()
Similiar amazon issue, can you turn 病月 1 | L22 into a series and add the 2nd volume Amazon.co.jp: 病月 2 (電撃コミックスNEXT) eBook : 箕田 海道, もちオーレ: Kindle Store
I submitted on the page but idk if these are being checked rn
Thanks for this! Got an email with over 100 books that had been in limbo ![]()
Unfortunately, very nearly all of those books that were in a series did not have their series information imported, whether the series had proper series pages on Amazon or whether I had linked to the other volumes of the series on the request page. Can a check be added to the auto-approval process for whether the request specified that the book is in a series, and pause the approval for a human admin to correct if the import process didn’t create a proper series in Natively? It’s a pain going back through all of the books I requested and sending feedback with the series information that needs to be added, when that information was already sent along with the original request.
Product Update
- Bug fix!! Search should now work well again, no more unnecessary refreshes. This was particularly painful on mobile… if that big search issue persists for you, please let me know
Next Up
- I’m continuing to make amazon syncing more robust. That includes going back to previously failing syncs and rerunning them.
- I’ll also try to look into some tv shows that aren’t syncing properly
@gillianfaith I took a quick look at your book submissions and you’re right, there were some old ones that had failing series syncs and the series weren’t created. Rerunning those now. For the series without an Amazon series page (and your helpful notes on the other volumes), I’ll try to think about how to handle that. Thanks for letting me know ![]()
Search is back to normal for me on books & videos. Thx for the fix!
Does this include converting series to the newer series page that has a sync button? A lot of older series can’t even be automatically synced right now.
And combined with the new book request format it’s resulted in a few double ups, eg Ruridragon (has three series entries?) or the much lesser-known Boyish Girlfriend (two entries) which need to be merged, if such a thing is possible
Yep - I just came here to report Ruri Dragon too. There’s… quite a lot of book entries for it considering it only has four volumes.
(I sent some individual reports before realizing the actual extent of the duplication.)
Yes. Thanks for the note!
Yeah there’s quite a few duplicates right now. I do have a function which can merge series together but i’ve been hesitant to do an automatic process for it with no manual review.. along with an automatic reporting system when two series have the same url.
That cleanup is on the list of TODOs.
@brandon looks like there’s another spam list; could you delete it?
