I don’t even know what that means lol but perhaps
Book club color still needs to match up, right? That green/teal for both?
Yeah that’s fine.
Yeah the sub-sub KR Book Club is missing in that screenshot.
This might be a bit picky, @brandon: how easy would it be to allow users to, say, mark Korean as a “learning” language in their user settings, but not actually reflect that in their profile? I’d like to poke around the Korean side of the site, but don’t want to give the impression that I’m actually learning the language to casual users.
If you want to keep your profile clean I think creating another profile would be the best?
Done.
Just use the top toggle on the site, no issue… you’ll just see a few warnings. And unmute the categories on the discourse forum
I don’t think i’ll by default have a setting for that specific use case.
Here’s another small bug for you then: I had marked Korean as learning to test it out, and the Korean forum categories un-muted correctly. I think went back to just preferences on the main site and removed Korean as a learning language, but the Korean forum categories did not re-mute.
Out of curiosity, what was the reasoning behind moving around all of the top buttons/the search bar? It’s going to take some time to get used to.
I liked it where it was before too haha. Also the blue colored dropdown for Book/Video is weird.
So that’s why it’s broken in dark theme, because it was recently changed I guess.
An issue where I’m unsure if it’s intentional or what- whenever I click “My Profile/Books/Videos” while on someone else’s profile, it takes me to that page for them instead of mine, meaning I have to navigate back to the home page first to get to my profile.
I like it, though it might be nice to include an Any option, so you could have a search with both together (also useful for someday in the future, if/when other media formats are added)
But the system can know this only after you logged in.
So display all the options for users who aren’t logged in and limit/hide the list for people who are logged in based on their preferences.
Basically, I wanted the language toggle next to the profile dropdown as it’s a global account setting. I also wanted it to be next to the search input, as it needs to be clear search would be done in that language. Those conditions forced the layout of the right side of the nav.
As for the remainder, it seemed natural to push the links to the left, rather than push them next to the search bar. The removal of ‘My Videos’ and ‘My Books’ link from the top header is sad, but I think the new top nav makes a lot of intuitive sense and isn’t too busy. Happy to hear suggestions though!
Yeah I’m not totally happy with it, but it’s the best solution the designer and I could think of. Happy to hear other color ideas
Whoops! Yeah that’s definitely a bug, nice catch
Noted on all the rest, everyone!
What’s wrong with white or grey like every other dropdown on the site?
One more piece of feedback regarding the nav bar changes… I would really like quick links to get to My Books and My Videos like before. Those are much more useful than Forums (personally I have a separate bookmark for that and almost never click that link) or Dashboard (which is a duplicate anyway since the NATIVELY image in the top left does the same).
Two other small things (that I don’t think changed recently):
- Browse is really really cluttered. I think you should get rid of everything except All Books and All Videos at this point. Most of them are just aliases for All Books with a filter anyway.
- The user menu should not include Dashboard. All the rest are specific to the logged in user, so Dashboard doesn’t really fit in.
Could the word Book/Video on the label on the search bar be centered? There just feels like too much space on the right.
