If we are talking about the same author, 終電にはかえします (ひらり、ス) | L18 I think that’s the only one. But I’m not really sure about the content of their other manga.
Ohhhh. I misunderstood and thought that was a multi-author anthology. That’s already on my wishlist then
No, I was thinking of ショコラ, but as @暁のルナ said, it turns out to be a multi author anthology
I’m lost. Who is ショコラ?
ショコラ is the title of the manga. When I searched by author, Booklive returned the multi-authors works as well and I didn’t notice…
I’ve added it: ショコラ 社会人百合アンソロジー | L24??
I had spotty internet and forgot to reply
That is a nice cover! Definitely getting on the TBR
I did vote for it… we’ll see how the poll goes.
Well, I do need a cat book for bingo purposes, so why not.
I will never forget that trauma
Anyone know any good stuff focused around the end of the millennium, and the associated fear and spooky/supernatural stuff either causing that fear or is a result of the fear? (Cults rising up, demons running around, the end of the world as we know it, etc.)
I’ve been enjoying a chapter in Tokyo Babylon where it’s a bit of a theme, and I’m sure some other works have done a great job exploring it.
I’m currently reading the ふらいんぐうぃっち series, just one chapter per day because I don’t want to run out too fast, and I just love it. The difficulty level is perfect, I like that there’s a little magic but not too much, and I just love the “vibe” of the manga.
Do you know any other manga series that I could start after finishing ふらいんぐうぃっち, around the same difficulty level and with a similar “vibe”?
E.g. the following L22 manga series:
フライングウィッチ will get more difficult than L20 at about volume #7, iirc.
ルリドラゴン | L21 for low key magic (but not too much has been published yet)
ゆるキャン△ | L26 for low key teenage shenanigans (but no furigana)
舞妓さんちのまかないさん | L24 for great art and iyashikei vibes … and there is something a bit otherworldly about the maiko … (+ furigana and a long series!)
That one looks great! Thank you!
Great suggestions! Thank you! I have read the first volume of both ルリドラゴン and ゆるキャン△ with the Wanikani clubs, and I really liked them. Maybe I should try to read the whole series. 舞妓さんちのまかないさん looks great too, and I love how long the series is. Thanks again!
I would like to seek recommendations for books for Bingo challenge.

Here’s some background info about my reading experience and interest:
-
I’ve been self-studying Japanese for 20months.
-
I’ve shortlisted a few novels from past book clubs because I like crime but I’m not sure if I am able to finish them without furigana for all kanji.
- 京都寺町三条のホームズ
- 十角館の殺人
- 変な家
-
I’ve read a few 名探偵コナン books from 小学館ジュニア文庫 series and I’m inclined to continue reading them as they are interesting and has furigana for all kanji.
-
I will also join the mystery book club for the upcoming book on 眼球堂の殺人.
-
Prefer reading more recent books than Aozora books and legally obtained free e-books.

Thank you in advance
@cat just finished 君に読ませたいミステリがあるんだ | L29 which is at the lower end of the spectrum that crime novels tend to be (I instantly put it on my wishlist bc of that).
If you’re looking for full furigana, there’s 探偵チームKZ事件ノート, 幽霊探偵ハル, or 放課後ミステリクラブ. I’ve only read that last series , so I can’t speak to the first two. (The one I read also trends more towards mystery than crime, if that matters).
京都寺町三条のホームズ isn’t something that I’d consider crime, and it’s not really even a mystery, although it does have some of those elements to it, fyi.
Thanks for letting me know. I will remove it from my shortlist
I’ve put those books you recommended into my Rakuten shortlist.
I really enjoyed this book but iirc it has a few points where the characters go off on tangents and also a smattering of old kanji. 変な家 is significantly easier imo.
If you like crime in general but have been learning Japanese for a shorter period of time I’d recommend checking out books by 赤川次郎. Some of his are supernatural themed but many are crime novels. They’re fast and fun reads generally.
Some mystery books I enjoyed:
ぼくが探偵だった夏 | L28 - The main character is in elementary school, so the language used is fairly easy.
「怪盗探偵山猫」シリーズ | L31 - Only read the first volume so far but it was fun and I plan to continue at some point. There’s a full-furigana version available.
シャドウ | L31 - One of the easier books we read in the mystery book club. There is an audiobook available.
Thank you very much everyone looks like I’ll have more books than ever to read and improve my learning.
@cat does 赤川次郎‘s books use old kanji? I saw from wiki that he has a series with the calico cat and I’m interested in that. I love cats
Not that I can think of. The very first 三毛猫 book by him is I think his first published book though and it was before he really found his writing style. Definitely harder than anything else I’ve read by him, but still quite approachable.
