Another wonderful book; I’m really enjoying this series. I like the combination of low-key mysteries and general slow overall plot progression. 猫猫’s personality does a lot of the heavy lifting, but the side characters are all great (羅漢 shaping up to a great addition in particular), and the mini-mysteries are so far entertaining without being repetitive. We’ll see how long the author can hold out on the latter front, but I’ve been enjoying myself. The series so far as a great quiet ambience, I feel; it’s hard to pinpoint, but I always end a book feeling very happy.
Unfortunately, I don’t know when I’ll be reading volume 3; level 38 is still a touch too high for me to read in a leisurely manner. I should probably get around to studying those JPDB vocab decks I keep linking. I’m feeling pretty confident that the next time I pick up a ひとりごと book, though, that I’ll be basking in the relative ease compared to this book; the experience if nothing else has been fun in comparing to all my struggles with the first book, haha.
I want to watch the new anime even more now; wonder if I can find it with JP subs anywhere… Thanks for being a good reading partner @Belerith! We didn’t chat a whole lot, but I enjoyed seeing your comments, and hope you’ve been enjoying the book!
I mentioned it before, but he is one of my favorite characters (behind 猫猫, obviously). Without spoilers, parts were they have to tag team (to 猫猫’s great displeasure) are among those I enjoy the most about this series.
I have thoughts™ about volume 5, I hope to discuss it with people at some point
I keep thinking about watching the anime… but anime aren’t really part of my everyday life. Every time I think about it, it’s already 11pm on a week day and I’m about to go to bed or something. It would be fun to have a group watch
We have a couple shows in rotation atm anyway, so it could be a bit. I could always ping you here ahead of time if we decide to spin it up, that way your free time wouldn’t be in so much danger, haha. One of those shows is just cute boys everywhere, haha
