Ok we are getting some stuff coming together now! I enjoyed the drama between the characters as they discovered they all live in the same town, as well as learning more about the home situations of different characters. You can definitely extrapolate the home situation of アキ knowing things like she doesn’t go to school, is going out with a creepy older guy, and is living with her grandmother who just died. She must have had a rough time. Although it’s kind of cliche for a chapter to end with the character looking wonderingly out of the window, I actually liked it here because Kokoro has had her curtains shut for so long. Baby steps!! She is opening the window!
And, almost missing the deadline at 5 o’clock?? I hope one of the other characters didn’t get eaten! I hope it was ウレシノ
Sorry, I accidentally laughed out. What makes you hoping or not hoping it was ウレシノ? I think I can relate to that 
ウレシノ has bothered me ever since he lowkey harassed all the girls over having a crush on them. He made Kokoro so uncomfortable that she stopped coming to the castle. Then he leaves and comes back all beat up and suddenly they’re all apologizing to HIM for not liking him and making fun of him. But he doesn’t need to apologize for making the girls uncomfortable? His actions are what caused them to dislike him!
It’s kind of weird, it’s like the book expects us to forget how he acted and think of him as just a great guy who has so much courage for going to school and getting beat up now.
Same here. I was thinking whether he was a bit clumsy but I still didn’t like his crushing on every girl because it felt like “if girl A does not like me, I try out girl B instead” and then beeing too clingy.
Thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t even remember this but reading this now, it feels even more akward and is showing a big “patriarchy identified - alert”
