I already finished vol 2 which finally gave me some actual plot. :face_holding_back_tears: And interesting plot at that… :eyes: the only slight issue I have with Katharina is: how oblivious to other people’s feelings/interest can you be? surely there is a limit to airheadedness… :distorted_face:

I started volume 2 last week, and I’m about 25% of the way through so far. The beginning was pretty fun, though I’m a bit sad so far that quite a bit of Katarina’s school life seems to be glossed over so far. I need social interaction with people not in her harem, I need social interaction with her harem, I need Katarina farming gardening on school grounds. It seems like the 主人公 might be being set up to join Katarina’s band of followers soon, and if so I hope she’s the last for a while; I want more character screen-time with the people we’ve already met.

Ok, I tried learning from shitsurei and skimmed the recaps. It’s indeed a better reading experience, but I do feel guilty for not reading every word of the book.

Chapter 1

Otaku is an awesome update from a monkey girl. You’ve raised her right, A-chan.

頭が悪いというより興味がないことには打ち込めない性格のようなのだ。

Sorry, A-chan. If your friend can’t comprehend the concept of doing homework, correcting her behavior after being scolded or reading school materials for longer than 10 minutes, her 頭 is definitely 悪い. Lying about that doesn’t help anyone, girl. Embrace the reality.

…So a girl that forgets what she was told on the next day managed to study well enough to get admitted to the same high school as A-chan?
Was A-chan aiming really low or did the shows/mangas with the whole “failed to get into the same high school as my friends” trope lie to me about Japanese high school admittance difficulty?

That was so sadddd :sob::sob::sob:

…well hello, Sofia. I think you’ve just greatly moved up in the romance candidates race. It’s destiny now :sparkles:

Re: chapter 1

Neither. As a parent who had a good look at those admission exams (helping my kids, because we live in Japan), I can assure you they are hard (well… the questions are not hard per se, but, for maths for instance, there’s always a trick that allows you to find the solution really quickly, while just basic solving is going to take too long for you to get to the end in the amount of time you have).
That’s just a way for the book to tell us that, if she felt like it, she could be good at it (but she typically doesn’t, and nothing you do is going to change that).
