Learning feedback
So I did call vol 1 a novel-shaped SRS, and I have to say it works (as I was low-key dreading).
My comprehension is way higher than I’d expect from a ranobe without furigana or an audiobook. For those who don’t know, listening is my strongest part and kanji is the weakest.
I’m doing way less lookups because I seem to have finally learned to recognize the basic vocab words that the author uses a lot. It’s so nice to be able to go 2-3 mobile screens with no furigana/audiobook/lookup and still get all the kanji vocab.
It feels kinda very very cool.
Even though I still totally have those sentences where the text looks like this to me:
To [character]'s xxx he also xxx his xxx, and, as I was all sad, he was kind to xxx me with kind voice.
…It now looks like a spicy scene written by a 12 year old, but this is a real sentence I’m looking at right now lol and the vocab is not hard at all. I just don’t quite know it in kanji
Upd (I hit 3 consecutive posts so):
Vol 2, Chapter 4 (why so long?! This was the entire plot in one chapter)
The Damnation Event was so… Unexpectedly unplanned. Girls, come on? Fact-check?
Katarina’s friends: ok so this is weird, we didn’t expect, seems a bit suspicious
Katarina’s very limited narration: my friends were talking about something but whatever

I feel like during the event they said that proof papers were badly done and can’t actually place Katarina at doing anything, but now (later in the story) we’re saying it’s very well written? I’m gonna assume it’s detailed or something.
Magic explains why there was no fact-check, nice.

And there we go, ladies and gentlemen. A character that seems too good to be true and not on the love interest list? A villain.
Katarina: Geordo told me there is black magic
Katarina: And now I remember than in the game there actually was black magic too.
Katarina’s lonely braincell: But game is different from reality, there might be no black magic after all! Phew, good, the villain must be a good guy after all.
All of this because she was nice to him and liked the tea he made. Boy, anything can be a trigger to someone. Yikes.
Bro is having a breakdown because someone kind exists in his vicinity and this stuff usually doesn’t end well for kind people so… Bottom line - I’m not into yandere.

The dread I felt when Geordo’s POV started with rehashing his relationship with Katarina…

Ah, dammit, Sofia’s scene was so exciting but lazy writing of “everyone came over running to a girl’s room in dorms separated by gender” dropped me straight out of the scene. What a pity, it was so emotional

Well, this ended very nicely, all things considered.
And interesting plot at that… 
the only slight issue I have with Katharina is: 
I can’t believe メアリ’s been running a covert ops for years to prevent アラン from realizing his feelings for Katarina. 
I pray for you as you go through every single harem member’s shocked pikachu face moment, haha.
). I wonder if the editor changed or if the publisher allowed us to see a realtime improvement in the author’s writing abilities by not editing anything at all.
