Please blur/hide any major events in the current week’s pages (however early they occur), like so: text here (that’s
text here
).
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, the story, cultural things or literally anything else related to the book — ask! There is really no need to be hesitant. If it’s something you are wondering about, chances are someone else will be thankful you asked first, lots of people enjoy answering questions, you learn something new, and the thread gets more lively. It’s a win-win on all fronts!

After reading this week’s part, I think the werewolf is most likely…

So, I was briefly thinking about “ウサギ would probably have better chance of winning the game than ハヤト” last week.
If we assume that the kids know that they will all be alright when the game is won, ウサギ would probably have been the better choice since I think she be the smarter one of the pair (even though she didn’t contribute much except this thing during the book, but honestly, that goes for pretty much all of the kids).
But since they seem to assume that they die, but simultaneously don’t show much (or in this case, any) despair about being sentenced to death due to this being a kids book… I’m not quite sure what to make of 本当は私が残りたかったんだ. She wanted to live? She felt like ハヤト would probably not be able to solve it anyway and she at least had a chance? Okay, this is getting slightly dark
But yeah, either way I figured that she wouldn’t have found a surefire way of getting ハヤト on board anyway, even if we assume the “the kids know they don’t die and must win the game” scenario.

Looks like the Count is finally taking his role as hotel staff seriously in the most passive-agressive way possible. Nice.
「ハヤト行って! 狼を見つけて!」
Yeeep. And this is how it ends, with ウサギ sacrificing herself first in the vote and then in the chase. I’m not particularly surprised. (But I’m still curious what would’ve happened if someone would’ve actually sheltered a victim to be in their room.)
「忘れないで! ヒントは出てる! ヤマネちゃんがいなくなる前に何かが──。」
ウサギ’s last words while being eaten by a werewolf: Helping ハヤト to solve the puzzle. What a hero!
It’s taking all of my willpower not to “accidentally” read the next chapter.
I honestly found this week’s reading kinda boring. Like, we already knew ウサギ was voted out, they talked a little bit, 伯爵 was smug and cryptic as ever, and they ran away from the werewolf. Maybe the most interesting part this week was ハヤト’s room being out of service, which, lawl.
But next week… we have to find something out next week, right??
Yep, next week is the 25 page chapter after all. It’s the longest in the whole book! I’m really looking forward to see how ハヤト is going to piece things together.
I loved that tidbit. I actually did laugh out loud there. The Count is such a troll.
Hihi, the count is a massive troll! Very well-timed essential maintenance. And then just tells him that he has been moved to a corner room. Cheers!
Otherwise bit of a filler chapter. But since we can presume that ウサギ does survive (cover of vol. 2), I guess we can also presume that the others are alive too. I hope it’s not going to be a “hey, it was all just a dream in an alternate reality” kinda ending.
Okay, sure, not much happened this chapter but I thought the part where they were like, I know, we’ll jump over the werewolf!! to be really fun. I like all the chase scenes. Partly because they’re way easier to read than the ‘discussing who the werewolf is’ scenes.
