@shitsurei can you also post the last sentence before the *** (as a blur spoiler)? In my version there’s a *** at 28% and one at 32%, so I’m not sure where our stop point is

Oh didn’t realize that! I’ll take a look on the computer that I originally did the schedule on in a bit and figure out which *** it’s supposed to be

It appears to be the first of the two *** section breaks, 藤野の背中でそんなことを思っていた。. I added it to the table as well.

I am getting more used to the writing style, this is quite an easy and pleasant read tbh. I also feel like the initial cringey moments are greatly reduced

So, for those who are familiar with yuri manga, a commonly used expression is ‘useless lesbians’, to refer to when characters are obviously into each other but don’t realize it, lol. Well, the characters here are totally useless gays in my book - Fujino is clearly head over heels already, and Nanase is like “wow he smells so good, and looks so nice, huh why is my heart beating fast? hmmm” :joy:

Week 2

Yeah I’m kinda pleasantly surprised with how much I’m enjoying the book. It’s quite easy, the two characters are both interesting enough, and it’s cute how 七瀬 is absolutely clueless.

And pretty much all of the pre 藤野 cringe is gone (clearly they’re made for each other :joy:)

My top moments were:
七瀬 getting excited about next year’s お花見 because it means that they’ll still be friends

七瀬 being so excited for the movie that he grabbed 藤野’s hand and 藤野 not being able to concentrate on the movie bc of that

:joy::joy::joy:

背は高い

I’m not exactly sure what 背は高い here instead of が implies …

「七瀬背は高いよな。無頓着すぎるけど」 「背〝は〟って何だよ。背〝は〟って。どうせヒョロいと思ってんだろ」

I was also confused about this bit - it just went over my head…

My best guess is that it was like “oh you’re tall, I didn’t notice” but that didn’t seem to match with the response, AND that’s kinda a crazy thing to come to a realization about…

I’m like, oh no, do I need to go back over all the は vs が grammar… I thought I had left that all behind… But I know there’s a lot beyond just topic marker vs subject marker that I decided I was too lazy to learn at the time. :joy:

は can imply a comparison. So while 背が高い would simply be stating a complement, は implies that there’s something else that’s not a compliment. 背は高いけど、(but this other ‘blank’ thing isn’t good); that’s why Fujino fills in the blank with ‘i’m tall but too thin/ gangly, isn’t that what you think.’

I hope that makes sense; I’m sick rn and can’t really tell.

That does!
I remembered the comparison grammar point but didn’t think of it as an implied comparison against something unsaid.
