I will generally copy this information over thread to thread each week for ease of finding - you can always expect the schedule at the top of any weekly thread :slight_smile:

  • Any reveals, for the current chapters must be behind spoilers or detail curtains. When we get further in you don’t need to hide details that were revealed in previous chapters.
  • Questions on vocab, grammar, nuance, and the like are both welcome and encouraged. If you’re not sure if it’s a spoiler, assume it is and use one of the above options to hide the text.
  • You are encouraged to speculate and guess wildly
  • Be kind about other peoples’ wild guesses :sparkling_heart:
  • Even if you don’t read the chapter(s) in time, you are still encouraged to post in the thread for that reading once you have finished it. I advise not reading ahead in the threads as you may see spoilers.

I have about 10 pages left to go for this week’s reading (started kind of late tonight, boo) but this person was mentioned in the footnote’s of my edition when our lizard lady mentioned 天勝:

If you’re using the playlist I linked in the main post this week’s reading ends at 44 minutes into the second video (making this week about an hour in total).

I was fully expecting our lady thief to leave the room while the dad and Akechi discovered the girl in the bed wasn’t real! But there she is in the last scene, so I’m curious how she will make her escape as she has basically revealed herself to Akechi at this point.

I really like the author’s style! His small interjections like “By now the reader will have discovered that…” or “Now the reader probably thinks the author made a mistake? …” :rofl:

The kidnapping was well played out, and the final trick was pretty obvious at least since Madame entered the room. So let’s see how it continues!

I think there’s nothing they can do as they don’t have any proof it was her :woman_shrugging:

yes, I love those, too !

I knew, obviously, that 明智 wouldn’t unmask our lady thief right away, but there was real tension in their interaction. I kept waiting for a big reveal, even though I knew it couldn’t happen right now !

I just finished this section!

I really didn’t expect 明智 to get completely bamboozled like this… Especially with how happily he accepted the bet earlier, I was expecting he had some other secret plans already laid out (I was thinking maybe he already had a double standing in for the daughter) but it seems like we’re off to a rough start.
