And really liked it. It looks like the next chapters are available at オレが私になるまで|カドコミ (コミックウォーカー) , which is great cuz I’m really enjoying it!
The former gender aspect of it has been a lot more in the background than I expected, but it’s still nice to have a work that treats it seriously/isn’t a comedy (tho I like those too)
(Context: main character cheated on his wife out of spite, but she just shrugged it off when she found out and he is not happy about that outcome; also, did he hope to get killed, wtf?)
Usage seems to confirm what @Biblio said about it just meaning “cheating”.
Edit: also, the only other choice he can think about is “crying oneself to sleep”. I find it weird that “talking about it” isn’t even one of the options that come to his mind…
I only do not have 400+ books in my 積読 on a technicality. Now I just gotta finish three of them…
(Those four are モンスターと食卓を—if Silika is actually a monster and not simply monstrous then that’ll go in the non-human protag bingo square— 文豪ストレイドッグス 太宰治の入社試験, 宝石商リチャード氏の謎鑑定, and 空への助走 福蜂工業高校運動部, but モンスターと食卓を is the only one I’ve been focusing on recently. I’ve been too tired to get very far. Though I’ll be starting 神去なあなあ日常 soon too.)
So today I got some new physical books! And I read one of them, 少女終末旅行1. And I finished it! It’s the second time I’ve finished a Japanese language manga in a single day (and the first time in a single sitting), and this one went a lot smoother too, so I’m pretty happy.
Other than that, I’ve recently finished 老女的少女ひなたちゃん 6 and 7, and I’m still progressing along with セーラー服と機関銃 with the WK IBC, and novel reading is starting to feel a lot less of a burden (though take away Yomitan and that might change)
Otoh there’s all sorts of reasons why characters and groups might not talk to each other (including that they don’t have all the extra story & genre knowledge we have) - so that can add depth to the story or characters (while also being frustrating). Depending how it’s done, of course.
R&J is at least partially a critique of the thing you hated about it, iirc.
I’ve been working on cutting down my in-progress books, which is difficult as I always want to start something shiny and new. In any case, I’m making progress.
I finished the Mystery Book Club pick (黒い森の記憶 | L29) and 天久鷹央の推理カルテV: 神秘のセラピスト | L35 in quick succession. Those levels amuse me though as I’d argue 推理カルテ is easier than 黒い森の記憶…but neither is a 29 nor a 35 I am trying very hard to be good and not start the next 推理カルテ book until I finish another book at the least.
Why do I love that sassy doctor and her sidekick so much?
I’m currently working mostly to knock out 黒猫の小夜曲 | L30?? (227 pages left, paperback, an easy read), レゾンデートル | L30?? (145 pages left, ebook, easy read but it’s dragging a bit), and 春琴抄 | L52?? (very short, difficult and a bit boring though I’m only a few sections in). Then I can finally return to focus on 聖なる黒夜 上 | L35?? which I started weeks ago
Let this be a lesson to me in moderation! That I promptly forget as soon as I have the urge to open another book
I just finished 君に紡ぐ傍白, which I think I first heard of from @暁のルナ. I really liked it overall, but I also agree with 暁のルナ’s review of the third volume. I would have preferred less drama in the final chapters of the series. The cute fluffy stuff is what I loved in the first two volumes, but half the third volume was drama. It wasn’t bad, just focused on the areas I enjoy less. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to read yuri that actually develops the relationship instead of the characters only getting together at the very end.
Other than that, I did start the final volume of おとなになっても as per my “what should I read next” poll. It’s just slow going because the first chapter was telling a weird story that I couldn’t get into. Now that I finished that chapter, hopefully I can get back into it.
Also, finishing my reread of 気になってる人が男じゃなかった 1 | L22 (ahead of the WK book club by a few weeks) so I can read volume 2.
Finally, making decent progress on 本好き volume 25. About 20% of the way through. The prologue took me forever because it was way too long and it was boring. I really prefer chapters from マイン’s perspective, so having a really long prologue was exhausting.
Was a big mistake to go with this just after finishing Vol. 3.
I struggled to finish but I didn’t want to leave it half way, as it would probably be worse to return later.
My idea is to read the mangas that match that volume then jump to an easy read, that my initial intention was to read on release day:
Hopefully the level being way lower will boost a bit my morale.
I liked it a lot (besides for some problems with the ending). I went in expecting something more like オレが私になるまで | L20 - and while they have some similar aspects, this is more of an emotional drama between the two leads, and not quite as contemplative or slow paced.
