When discussing a specific section, please mention where you are in the book, ideally by chapter so people reading different versions have a clear point of reference.
Feel free to read ahead if it’s exciting, but please refrain from spoiling ahead of the appropriate week.

I was trying to finish the chapter before dinner so I skimmed a little bit through where かずえwas talking about why the movie she was supposed to be in fell through and realized I didn’t quite understand what happened there with the other actor.
My understanding is that it’s been put on hiatus because the studio that was going to do it had plagiarized fan art for character designs or something. CLAMP (or one of the other groups involved) said they’re still committed to getting the story animated, but it’s very on when that will be.
Although I hadn’t heard they also plagiarized other things. That makes more sense bc not only is the fact that they plagiarized not ok, but I’d be concerned with their ability to execute if all they did was copy others’ work.
It’s crazy they plagiarized costume designs of all things. Really? Just look at the source material!!! There’s so many costumes in the source material!!!
I suppose it’s a good thing it was cancelled because I would not trust them to make a high quality show.
She had some sort of mental breakdown due to pressure, divorce, and constantly being in the press or something like that - and then suddenly stopped with the filming, right when they were gonna start.
Uggggghh (I appreciate a good 壁ドン, but that was just so uncomfortable)
That gave me a good chuckle
Chapter thoughts: Went much better than last time - comprehension, story, and artwork all felt much nicer this time around. The whole compassionately talking out the problem reminded me of xxxHolic (tho Yuuko’s more judgey sometimes). Also Subaru is such a sweetheart. Seishirou is nice in his own way too, but also…
Could we chill with the age gap stuff for like 2 seconds? The gag humor’s funny and all, but it feels like 60% of the content, and it’s getting a bit tedious. Tho the end did have me wondering if something did actually happen, but as he says それはご想像におまかせします (I’m assuming nothing more happened, cuz Subaru would be like 20x more blushy and flustered if it had)
Hokuto continues to be in “I almost like you, but you still rub me wrong” territory for me.
While I felt bad for the actress, I also found the her sense of entitlement really frustrating. Nobody owes you anything just b/c they have “talent” or success - especially not at the cost of their own health, and especially not in an industry where not taking work can really negatively affect your future prospects. (Sry I just get frustrated with that combination of entitlement and then being mad at a total stranger for not living up to the values and expectations that you’re one-sidedly projecting on them)
I do sympathize with someone going in without any sense of the reality, seemingly little to no support system, resources, or guidance, and not being able to emotionally cope with how painful not being able to reach your dreams can be though.
Anyway… Overall much better chapter for me. Can’t say I’m hooked, but I feel positive about continuing.
