Discussion Guidelines
Spoilers should always be hidden using spoiler blur.
When discussing a specific section, please mention where you are in the book, ideally by chapter so people reading different versions have a clear point of reference.
Feel free to read ahead if it’s exciting, but please refrain from spoiling ahead of the appropriate week.
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, cultural things, etc - ask! That’s a welcome part of the discussion too, and other readers will be happy to help.
Added a poll for start date. It seems like everyone’s reading digital or already owns the book so far - so I put dates that are sooner rather than later - but if anyone does need to wait for a physical copy to arrive, lmk and I can revise it
Turns out I have a preference, and changed my vote accordingly… I’m gonna say we start on the 9th. (Sry that was barely any time for anyone to reply to my previous comment, I’ve just got a bit too much on my plate to start on the 2nd, personally)
Like last time, I had to look up some words… But it didn’t feel tiring this time around. Realizing I never actually read vol 2… So I guess I’ll do that when we finish this.
I read chapter 1&2 as well. Didn’t expect it to be this cute. As That mao actually killed the hero herself kind of surprised me, seemed a bit crusome after this very cute art style. and it seemed she liked her back the too. Language was a bit difficult, I think. With the fantasy setting language.
Loving how cute the dynamics are between Mao and Kanade.
So far at least most of what we’ve seen is from Mao’s point of view, and her constant curiosity about Kanade is very endearing, while also making Kanade look very aloof and mysterious since we don’t know what she’s thinking.
Not sure how long the manga plans to keep us in the dark about whether Kanade remembers anything of their (other? previous?) life, but so far the manga seems to be using that pretty well.
I’m trying to catch up to the story, but enjoying it so far. It’s interesting how we see different flashbacks every chapter; we are basically getting to know what happened at the same time as Mao. The kiss at the end of chapter 6 was definitely also not something I expected. (as it seemed like they had a more platonic/ambiguous relationship before that)
Nice that we finally get to see Momomiya’s point of view.
During previous chapters I was wondering in the back of my mind if she actually had some recollection of her previous life, but took things nonchalantly mostly because she didn’t know if Kurose remembered anything or not. And probably also because that’s just how her aloof personality is.
So it’s interesting to see that she had actually some recollection through her dreams, but it seems not really as vivid as Kurose’s. It’s fun that her party members are also around, just like Kurose’s underlings. Given that this manga only has two volumes though, I guess we are not going to see much development for these supporting characters, sadly.
