Since engagement is pretty low, I might switch to one thread per chapter for the rest of the book. I still need to divide up the rest of the chapters, but I was thinking 2 weeks per chapter for the rest of the book should be fine (mostly 15 pages/week) instead of 10 pages/week and 3 weeks per chapter.

Annnd… it’s time for the next chapter!
So, uh, guess who only opened this thread once to say “Yes, I’ll participate” in the poll (which apparently wasn’t enough to auto-subscribe)… and who then completely forgot that this club exists?
I’m now pondering whether to start late. On one hand I’m quite busy (both with the go-as-fast-as-I-can Silent Witch book club, and in life), on the other hand this is only level 23. On one hand I like the concept, on the other hand, the described items don’t sound too exciting.
So… help me decide. How’s the book so far? Must read? Meh? Something in between?

Ahhh, it’s not really blowing my socks off. It’s kind of like the Zenitendou series, but the stories in the Zenitendou series are a lot more satisfying in the way that they resolve imo. So if you’re looking for permission to skip, I will grant it

(After all, I already have the Catalogue when I need my “(sometimes mediocre) stories about weird items” fix.)

Yeah, totally agree with @soggyboy, you can skip this one without missing out on anything special. I’m still going to push through and finish it.
I missed the Zenitendou bookclub…but it’s in my library somehow 
and I recall Audible pushing it at me. I’ll give it a read/listen sometime.

Zenitendo was fun, but not enough for me to carry on to the later books. This book being that, but not as good was definitely a big reason I bounced off it immediately after the first chapter. The audiobook for Zenitendo was really well done too. I’d give it a listen if you can.

I mean, it is about an otherworldly book full of weird magical items whose purpose is to ultimately bring despair, so that fits well
