Here are some schedule polls. I am going to extend the speed range from the previous club since I need to warn that, despite its “light” nature, the text is fairly dense and on the harder side (about the same as コップクラフト | L35 and I remember people complaining about the pace for the difficulty ). You may want to check the preview if you are not sure.
Alright, there’s no update in the polls, so the winner so far is to start next Monday, so I will go ahead with that.
In terms of pace, things are split, but I think the “ramp up” solution is a good compromise.

Would that be okay with everyone? Chapters 27 is pretty long which made the relevant week a bit unbalanced, but it’s towards the end anyway, I think we will be up to speed at that point.
Well, since no one complained about the start date or the schedule, we are go!
Week one is pretty short, as per the ramp up option. I may slow things down if it turns out to be the max that people can handle, but hopefully we will be fine after that warmup.

L36 That’s the highest level I’ve read in a while, but looking at the gradings, some of the books it was graded against as ‘similar’ were not that difficult for me. There is hope.
I think that’s a universal feeling… how much is our choice, how much external influence?
Reminds me that quote that gets associated with Einstein, but not sure if it was said by him: “Everyone knew it was impossible until a fool who didn’t know came and did it.”
I am now in chapter 2 and the L36 is earned, imo… Grammar seems OK-ish but lots of what feels like N1 (and higher) vocabulary. Also the author seems to have a thing for using a lot of words long descriptions.
The 美術室 is giving 桜蘭高校ホスト部 vibes. At least that’s what sprung into my mind.
As expected, the writing was indeed on the harder side, I guess. There was a word I had to look up and, kinda tooting my own horn here, that’s not something that happens often without actively trying older literature or something. (The word was 杳 by the way).
I do like the writing style, though. Lot of small puns and underhanded comments (like “生足くん” instead of his real name and the fact that he is not just fast when running, but also when getting closer to someone)
I tried to use the descriptions to match the guys on the cover with the members. My read is left most is 天使長, then 部長 (by elimination), then 理事長 番長, then 番長 理事長, then 生徒会長. Edit: turns out they are named with an illustration at the beginning that I somehow skipped.
I have to admit, I didn’t look up anything about the author. If I like the rest of the book, I may consider checking other stuff as well.

I think the author is best known for the monogatari series which I vaguely remember watching an episode of the anime of, being confused and dropping it.
Wait, seriously?? Looking it up, it seems to be the case indeed. I read the first volume and was like “nope I’m done”.
At least, it’s pretty different so far, so I’ll reserve judgement.
I only started reading but wow, girl, you need to calm down. “What could I have achieved in the past 10 years?” Well, considering you are turning 14, I’d say nothing.
Edit: okay, nearly 20% in and we finally get something like a plot I’m betting that what she saw was a planet or something, not an actual star, which explains why she can’t find it again.
Yeah, that’s both sad and wildly incorrect. I’m a grown ass adult (from a legal standpoint at the very least) and I’m having fun right now by reading this book
I’m a little late starting but I read week 1’s chapters. It actually proved quite challenging, which I suppose is to be expected with the level. Anyway, because of that I followed it up and watched the part of episode 1 that covers these chapters. I’m not sure if it’s the second time, or it was just problems recognising some of the words in kanji, or all the visual context, but the anime at least was a lot easier to follow lol. There was also one added/extended scene, but since it was referenced in what we read, I’m guessing it’s more stuff that the anime brought forward rather than invented.
I hope @Biblio is still fine… we are now at full pace.

Okay, that’s wild how fast they move.
Gotta say, the tone of the story is not quite what I expected.
Banchou is wearing the same apron to cook? Wasn’t he dusting while wearing it before? That doesn’t sound really hygienic.
I also think that dropping the meat is more of a waste than using silver plates though. Can’t really relate to the main character.
Banchou made a good point that she is probably the one who believes the least in her own request.
When I saw chapter 8 I suddenly thought “wait how much more do I have left?” But turning the page I saw it was a really short… AND I just now realize, having made the table above, that it’s part of next week

I have to say, the author is using some uncommon kanji and words, but that’s not something I expected would transfer to a visual medium, so it makes sense.
