I’m not complaining, lol.

That’s true. I guess I was thinking of the reading as a whole and not just the end.

It’s impossible for me to buy this as an ebook without vpn, a new e-mail (they seemingly don’t accept @googlemail.com ???) or a japanese phone number. But put the name of the manga into google, I can miraculously read it for free. It’s ridiculous.

That does sound like a miracle. I’m not sure what kind of dark magic you used, but if it works out…

week 1

Ok. All three having the same rice-radical four times in their names isn’t going to confuse me at all.

It’s quite nice, if maybe a little boring (although I did vote for this specifically because it looked like a more mature slice of life story). I’m glad there seems to be a bit of drama with Yutaka’s family and all. For a moment I feared it would be going to be just cooking tips.

Week 2 has begun!

Chapter 4 was pretty long. I was going to read 5 later, but then I saw that it is pretty short.

Week 2

I just thought that Yutaka resembles Rei from san gatsu no lion. And then they give his backstory and it’s basically the same (both are orphans who didn’t feel entirely welcome at their foster family).

One day I’ll have to look for a manga with an orphan with a happy family life.

I really like that these boys both have really sad back stories, but they’re made happier by having each other in their lives. Also, the last twoish pages: squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I mean, I don’t like that they have sad back stories, but you know what I mean :slightly_smiling_face:

Finished week 2~ I loooved chapter 4; both the kiss (finally!) and 豊’s sad flashback scene with the 種-esque drawings. I might have had to hold back a tear or two. :face_holding_back_tears: I don’t say this often, but I might have to pick up a physical copy of this book if the final week holds up.

This week was a bit longer page-count wise, it felt like; hang in there everyone!

Highly recommend it. The book is super nice and I think the mild off-white you get from paper really sings with the art. I ordered a physical copy of おかわり last week after reading the first section. I think it arrives today!

Well, I cried.

Other than that, I can’t believe 穣’s… former girlfriend? just got mad because he was focusing on 種. How about you help instead?

As far as I am concerned, that’s a cliffhanger end this week :stuck_out_tongue:

Right?!? I had to read it twice because I kinda didn’t believe that’s what she was saying. He’s better off without her, imo.

In her microscopic defense, her and Minoru are college students. I imagine finding out at that age your (supposed?) boyfriend(?) is now the primary guardian for his younger brother is a lot to take in and asks a degree of self-sacrifice/selflessness. Obviously still very messed up, but I do applaud the author for the realstic and subtle way it was handled.

I just finished the current volume so… おかわり! Pun(?) intended

About the content, that was a sweet ending too and I actually loved the 10-ish years later bonus chapter (what is wrong with 豊’s tie, though?). Older 種 seems to have dangerous feelings for 豊 though…

P199 of the ebook: omg 種’s face. I’m gonna eat him rather than feed him.

P214 ebook: dealing with loss is always hard, but I don’t think “it hurts so it’s proof it was love” is a good take though.

P239 ebook: aaaaaaaaa たねたらこ!!

P241 ebook: 豊穣コンビ! I didn’t even realize. Well played.

I forgot to write down the page numbers, but the kisses (and attempts) were really nice too. I loved the one where 種 interrupts them by getting out of the bath.

And done~ What a lovely little story; I didn’t expect even the ending to have a little extra touch of sweetness. :smiling_face_with_tear: 豊’s fears about one day losing his new family like he did with his old were a good sendoff; I liked that おとん got to have a little bit of page time talking with him about it, and it felt like it wrapped everything in a nice bow talking about another family’s loss as well.

I’m extremely curious how おかわり’s going to go; the original standalone feels perfect, not to short or long, so I’m curious if おかわり will choose to develop things, simply stick to a slice-of-life formula, etc. I think I hope we get to see a touch bit more of 豊’s brother, maybe have him meet 穣 and 種。(Ah, and speaking of which: I only noticed in this last week how similar those two kanji are, as I squinted at my Kindle screen trying to figure out which one was being used…)

Same. I’m a bit intrigued with how that particular storyline seemed to be going… :eyes:

Week 3

Even when I’m mostly not into BL, I got to admit this one was pretty good. Definitely the best out of the (very) few anime/manga in the genre I have seen.

I didn’t like that 穣 kissed 豊 while fully expecting him to not like it. But it’s still pretty easy to forgive compared to other forceful male MCs I have seen in joseimuke media.

I’ll have to look for the male equivalent to CGDCT. Because as good as the romantic elements were here, its still not what interests me most, I think.

I wonder if おかわり will continue from the time skip or from the main-story.
Could it be that while there are a lot of BL manga, many of those are single volume or have this kind of unplaned continuations?

I see there is a yuri story by the same author. Though there isn’t much substance to it. It’s the story 五月のこと in the anthology ユリキュール アルコール百合アンソロジー - 五月のこと. I’m kind of interested in seeing how the same author writes BL, yuri, het stories. I really liked the het, seinen romance おとなりに銀河 and might want to read a BL story from the author in the future. There is also a yuri anthology ふわふわのきもち I kind of really liked written by an author who otherwise has only written het shoujo romance (that was a bit frustrating).

This tag might help, perhaps? 新しい上司はど天然 1 | L22 I thought was pretty good; it’s not BL, and lots of boys doing cute things. 魔法少年なつき×らびっツ 1 | L24 I also thought was super cute, though be warned the premise is “bad guys want to (chastely) kiss middle school boy”. It’s mostly not BL.

Oh, thanks.

I have nominated 魔法少年なつき×らびっツ | L24 for the BL Club.

I watched the 佐々木と宮野 | L23 anime. And aside from the presentation (more boyish version of the shoujo cliches), I liked the side characters worrying about their girlfriends and stuff.

I had seen clips of the 学園ベビーシッターズ | L20 anime and would really have liked to watch it (doesn’t seem to be on any streaming service I use, though). Shoujo manga with few romance elements is also something I want to try more of.

As someone who has consumed quite a bit of Suzumiy Haruhi media, the existence of キョン&古泉の災難アンソロジー | L24?? is somewhat funny to me.

If I find anything I like from that tag that actually is BL, I might nominate it.
