The green background is throughout the whole volume. Highly highly recommend this manga. We’re reading it over on the WaniKani forums right now (well, I’m rereading it).
Cool… Interesting vibe. What do you like about it specifically? Maybe I’ll order it next month
Here’s what I said when I nominated it for the book club on WaniKani: “This manga is one of the most enjoyable manga I’ve read in recent memory, to the point that I randomly open it on my tablet to reread random sections. It has a unique aesthetic with light green coloring and bite-sized 4 page chapters, which work surprisingly well.”
To elaborate, I find it cute and funny, and I like the two main characters and their interactions. I haven’t read the second volume yet, so I can’t comment on whether the manga is actual yuri or just elaborate yuri bait (story progression spoiler I guess), but either way I find it a lot of fun.
For full disclosure, you can also find the manga on the mangaka’s twitter for free if you’re so inclined. The digital quality on Amazon (but presumably everywhere) is quite good as well, so you can’t go wrong no matter how you choose to read it. I read the first volume originally on my iPad but I bought the physical copy as well, which is what I’m using now to reread it for the book club. I pretty much never double buy manga, so that’s also an indicator of how much I enjoyed the first volume.
Really? I only saw links to the Amazon pages
I’ll likely buy the physical anyway, bc it looks like something that will be really nice in physical, and I’m not in a rush (reading lots of things already)
I vaguely remember 可愛いだけじゃない式守さん | L18 doing 4 pg chapters or something (tho it wasn’t really my cup of tea, regardless of chapter length)
I am also always looking forward to seeing if the next book I read comes with a bookmark.
The kitty one made me check my “collection” and sadly, I only have 1 kitty.
the 青鳥文庫 books have 国語 questions on them and つばさ文庫 is the most boring as all the bookmarks are the same.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by a few Inuyasha bookmarks cuz they were advertising the games back then. This one’s my favorite:
Been less thrilled by the postcards that some of the Prisma Ilya volumes have… But that’s not surprising
Vocaloid LN and Manga haul! Picked up the Gumi manga and 厨病激発ボーイ 1-5, so excitied to start reading!! No obis this time, as they’re second hand (gotta love ebay and their cheap ass mangas)
I’m missing my chibi 不機嫌なモノノケ庵 bookmark, and I feel like I had another よまにゃ too, but idk where they’re hiding, and there may be others too. These are all the different bookmarks I found:
I have 2 of the second よまにゃ, 5(!) of the 角イカ, and 2 of the navy 角川 ones
Oh yeah, there are also a couple from 文春文庫 (I’m p sure), but idk if they’re also hiding or if I tossed them. I like the design on the one side but not the other.
Stopped by Book-Off after seeing the End of Evangelion (which I hated more than the rest of the series), and grabbed a few LNs on the cheap, one of which was recommended to me on the seeking recommendations thread (裏世界ピクニック):
Received this today, and I’ll chill reading it after lunch! (So I don’t get hungry if they do camping food)
addiction? what addiction? I swear Im just a normal fan of the series dont look at my purchase history

for those who collect physical anime: do the western blurays have the option to turn off subtitles? I really wanna start collecting anime but the JP vers are all pretty expensive…
I don’t know the answer (the only Western releases I own are dvds from 20 years ago, and I’m sure they were hardcoded back then), but if you don’t mind secondhand, JP on Suruga-ya is way cheaper than Western.
Checked suruga, it’s def a cool website (so pissed I missed that one weekend sale lol), but in particular the JP import of certain shows just seems to be more expensive in general
thanks for the help though!
You do have to be careful with importing DVDs and blu-rays from Japan since there is region locking with both (and the regions aren’t consistent between the two media types).
If you mean the free shipping, they do that almost every weekend. (I haven’t looked to see what other sales they might have)
There’s ways to get around it, but fair point.
FYSA they’ve got one again this weekend Japan time.
I actually did a comparison with Mandarake, and Suruguya is on average 50 to 70% more expensive, at least for videogames and figures, if you just look at base price without shipping. So I’d never buy from them without the sale.
That said Mandarake is only really a great deal when buying in bulk due the shipping costs. I often use them when buying sets of manga or LNs, and just throw a game or CD in with that. My last order came to like 400 yen per item even with shipping (but total cost was about 220 USD, of which shipping was half).
I’d expect that to be the same with DVDs, tho shipping ratios might be different (IIRC EMS uses a combo of volume and weight while DHL is only volume?)
In most cases you can’t turn of subtitles on western anime blu rays of course there are apps which still allow you to turn them off.
Yeah the main reason Suruga-ya gets my money is the free shipping. Mandarake did seem like some prices were better when I last looked at it, but their website is just way too confusing and cumbersome for me (to the point where I’d use cdjapan over them, despite the price difference… So I’m impressed by people who do use them)
Manda’s English or Japanese site? If you need help, I’m happy to help
