YESSS

Ohh, I think that might help a lot so I could prelearn some vocab. LMK when you finish it! (but no rush, these are all 2025 reads anyways)

Thanks so much, that is great, it sounds just like the preview! Until recently I didn’t look at book previews much, but I’ve been delighted to discover books in the 26-27 level that have just that little bit of furigana seem pretty accessible. A heck of a lot more accessible than the L31 妊娠カレンダー I recently started (how can I possibly be so surprised by this ). So I’ll probably be up for that book in the second half of the year sometime. Give me some warning when you’re ready to start if you want to have company on a loose journey through the old book club threads. could be fun!

Gimmie a shout if you’re reading かがみの孤城 later this year. I also have the (very pretty) hardback and I grabbed the audiobook with some expiring points, but I haven’t gotten around to it because it’s gonna be a bit of a struggle and it’s very long. Reading with a group would def get me through it

sounds like a party then! It is long and company would be lovely. I made a note in the Natively private notes for the book to tag you guys if soggy doesn’t beat me to it.

Sounds to me like this could be a full fledged Natively book club :eyes: I’m sure you’d get other takers. I already read it but I could join in to answer grammar questions and such if helpful, and maybe relisten to the audiobook

Time for a long overdue mail post from me; I’ve gotten several packages over the last few weeks, and only just sat down now to start cataloging them all.

All right, first up. This package was mainly for the two magazines on the right-hand side, but I filled in a bit more weight with

Next up, top to bottom, left to right:

Four books for the BL '70s club, as these particular entries are physical-only:

And finally, a booklet with new short stories from the publisher Chara; it’s got a new Flesh&Blood short in it. :3

What is the pic on the cover from? I like the art but don’t think I recognize the series…

I love the audiobook, and I’m not really an audiobook person. I get emotional particularly listening to the intro, which I’ve probably done like 20 times.

@Biblio is correct! It’s (afaik) newly-drawn art from that series!

かがみの狐城 on my list so I might join in too if it’s the later half of the year, but since I stupidly bought the non furigana split version, I might be at a slower pace. Just hope the book has all the same content or I might need to get the hard cover too :joy:

The split version being 上 and 下? It should be identical, just sliced into two parts

Yeah, that set. I was expecting it to be the same but wasn’t sure if it would be or if there might be any differences.

上・下 (or sometimes 上・中・下 for especially long books) is just what happens to long novels when they’re released as bunko size. It’s not like (what I assume you’re thinking of) the junior versions of books with the blue or green borders.
For example the book I’m reading now, 消滅, is a 500ish page large hardcover, but in bunko (small paperback) form it’s a 上 and 下, each being around 300 pages.

I assume it’s mostly just because a smaller book is easier to carry around, but there may be more publishing and/or cultural reasons behind it.

EDIT to add:
I also have seen 上・下 in hard cover, and hilariously I own an massive oversize paperback that is a full text (with double rowed text, do I hate myself?) when I saw I could have bought the hard cover 2 set.

I was mostly thinking of the manga, compilation or special edition books where sometimes there is extra content added in or slight changes made. I’ve a few books that are split into 2-3 parts but usually they use the one listing, whereas this has the split version separate.

I liked the premise of the book so if I really enjoy it I might also buy the hard cover too.

I do have a few books I’ve “accidentally” bought in several different formats not realising I either already have it or liked it so much I decided to buy a copy for decoration :joy: kinda like the games I have across several consoles

This drives me crazy tho. I really wish there was a way to have a game just work on all consoles (and totally understand why that’s impossible). I’ve been stalling in what format to buy the flowers visual novels in bc of that (tho I’ll probably just cave and grab them for switch next month, even tho it means overpaying a bit)

thanks @cat nice idea!

I’ll put you on my tag list!

I know it’s for kids and the episodes are really short but I had to buy them :joy: These 5 cover about the first 8 books from what I can tell from the chapter names. Each DVD has about 10 episodes, some of the longer chapters seem to be split into 2 episodes so I’m guessing there are around 12 or so DVDs total. Will get the rest when I place my next big order.
