We read the first volume with the LN book club.
Can’t be 僕らの食卓 unless @shuly considers hand-holding too much.
There’s some kissing too
Hush, shitsurei, the children might hear. (But thank you, I did forget. After enough degenerate reading I forget the tamer stuff exists.
)
hand holding omg that’s worse than the nudity!!! the smut oh no!!! protect the children
both of the recs are perfectly fine and SFW the conbini one (good place to start for warm and fluffy)
I meant if you were looking for other BL recs and were to browse through my personal library :innocent:Everyone knows holding hands is the first step to getting pregnant
In all realness there’s exactly one panel in the second manga that I remember that I’d maybe not want someone looking over my shoulder on the train to see, but it shows nothing. It’s a very sweet moment that leaves the rest of the scene as an exercise to the reader. I just wouldn’t want someone to know that I’m reading a manga that wasn’t like, Naruto
Although, in light of the other thread about nudity in manga, I’ve been reminded that Naruto probably has more nudity than this does so…
First full day of holiday; book count 2:
150 yen each, from a second hand bookshop in Jinbocho.
I also bought the toy I’d been meaning to pick up: a new Casio ExWord XD-SA20000… (If anybody in the UK is interested in my ten years old but still basically functional old XD-GP9700, let me know. This is a model with the Kenkyusha “Green Goddess” JE dictionary.)
Back to Book Off now that I’m in Tokyo. Finishing series today (including the 犬夜叉 for a friend

Today, from the bookoff in 一関; these were all in the “100 or 200 yen” section:
Also I realised that it would be really helpful to be able to view my Natively wishlist as a list with author name and publisher displayed, preferably sorted by author name in kana order…
oh yes… the time I have spent in bookoff running to the same section 10 times because my (amazon) wishlist is not ordered by author name…
Turns out we already have a feature request for displaying author name in lists, so I voted for it:
Before going to Japan last time I made myself a list which contained the name of the book, the author’s name (including the kana reading if it was a name I couldn’t read easily), and a copy of the cover - printed out It worked very well but it is a lot of effort admittedly! For me it was partly just not liking having my phone out constantly while browsing, though.
yeah, I had plans of doing this, too… but they remained plans…
Had to schlep all the way* to Ikebukuro to go to the good Book Off and finally found a (still small) but reasonable shojo manga section.
*I’m staying in Shinjuku, don’t believe my lies
books
Piece | L22 1-10
ゆびさきと恋々 | L20 3-7
コレットは死ぬことにした | L24 1-3
ねぇ先生、知らないの? 4 | L18
My partner also found me a giant Kuromi for ¥1500 that I couldn’t say no to. Now where she’s going in my luggage is … an exciting question we’ll find out the answer to tomorrow
一関 bookoff again, this time with a better prepared list of authors:
The 烏 theme was unintentional…
The 30% off sale they were running was sadly for manga only, or I would probably have bought more
seems like you might need to sign up for tenso
it’s super convenient for ordering stuff from japan and getting things shipped home…
but even more so when traveling around japan for a month accumulating omiyage every week - using takkubin to tenso to yourself (from the hotel - they will even selll you a box for like a couple hundred yen) and then have them ship everything home (so worth it!!!) apologies to your wallet
the upside is if you don’t have it yet, wallet safe for now
(kind of a pain to setup, have to prove you are you - but once setup - so convenient)
I think I ended up shipping 7? boxes of gifts back home a couple of years ago … sadly almost none of it was for me only a couple of glasses from otaru, some cookies, and a hat.
next time more bookstore visits
Oh nooooo, I have avoided getting bowls because I couldn’t figure out how to get them home besides carrying them on and I didn’t want to do that, but now I know for next time…
On this trip I bought a new suitcase but it doesn’t count bc I’ve wanted a smaller carry-on for a while now. Knowing I’d want to get a bunch of stuff back, instead of packing a suitcase sandwich like usual, I just bought a new one at Hands.
you’re welcome
tenso is a really good service
haven’t used them in a while and while having to pay to takkubin and then pay to ship stuff home isn’t cheap, there was no way i could have gotten all of that stuff for everyone back home w/o it or like a lot of checked boxes (would have been impossible) [still cheaper than plane tickets and checking lots of bags - how would you even carry them ]
made shopping fun!! though now wishing for things i can only get in hokkaido or miyazaki just be careful not to buy stuff they cannot ship home (accidentally got a room diffuser as a gift that they won’t ship cuz flammable liquid rules) kind of silly but was able to have them return to me in hokkaido - takkubin is amazing! (i was traveling all over the place for 4 weeks)…so able to get it home after all.
next japan trip - looking forward to trying to discover some rare bl dojin finds
Last one! (I’m at the airport so I can’t buy any more books… probably

I gave in an bought a few books from Amazon that I didn’t have a lot of hope for finding used.
Picked up ぼくは「つばめ」のデザイナー 九州新幹線800系 誕生物語 (講談社青い鳥文庫 305-1) | L22?? since I’ve had my eye on it for years now and realized it’d make a good, thing I don’t know a lot about, bingo book.
I also snagged たったひとりのサバイバル・ゲーム! 太平洋を泳ぎぬけ! | L21 to read with the WK group, and a few more of the series that they haven’t read yet, since they are such a pain to source.
Edit: for anyone who was concerned (no one was concerned) Kuromi went into my big suitcase with the accordion open, but I was able to get the accordion closed once I zipped the case. Also, none of the bags were more than 14kg, which really shows how many more books I should have bought
