Sale and Promotion hunting

No, with the caveat that it can be different for some people based off of unknown factors. When I set up my account I needed to use a VPN for the first x amount of purchases, and after that I think I must’ve been added to a whitelist of some kind, so for a good while I didn’t need a VPN. A couple years ago they took me off the whitelist, but purchasing a handful of books via VPN moved me back on, and I haven’t had trouble since.

Yeah, use a VPN for a few days/purchases and it will eventually go away. Seems to be entirely random as to when you do/don’t need it

I also fool AmazonJP by buying stuff to physical JP addresses whenever I go there

How do you set that up?

I just make them drop my stuff at nearby lawson’s, as not to have to bother with the hosts of the places where I’m staying or the hotel receptions.

Works very well and fast, I usually abuse the heck of the amazon prime trial during my stay as well

I even did a return with kuroneko yamato, that was a challenge!

Anyone have a vpn in particular that they recommend?

I like Tunnelbear! Super easy to install, and you get 1 GB for free, so you cannot watch movies and stuff, but it’s more than plenty for placing orders with Amazon and the like.

ProtonVPN has free JPN nodes.

As paying service though, I prefer Mullvad as it’s a no-bullshit VPN that doesn’t have discounts on annual plans and fancy promotions or sponsors everywhere.

Wow, I had never even considered this lol

Ahhh, finally some stuff on this thread that doesn’t hurt my wallet :rofl::rofl:

I bought some some of the manga, and one of the LNs I couldn’t find on Bookwalker, and made reqs for them on here

I’ve been using NordVPN. Works fine. They had a really good sale for the end of November.

Ironically it causes issues if you try to read on sites like matcha-jp.com, but I’m guessing that’s VPNs in general.

Cool to see about ProtonVPN having free JP nodes tho!

And up to volume 12, only 99 yen!

Quite a deal, I guess to “celebrate” the series ending.

There’s a few current deals on Kindle manga I just noticed that are notable, mostly ecchi but a few interesting standouts.

The Summer Hikaru Died 1 - 141y

Uzaki-san 1, 11y

Ore no Monogatari, 1-3, 66y

Nichijou 1, 119y

Yakuza Babysitter 1-3 (free)

Bookwalker 50% coin back on everything is almost over… Ends 12/12(火) 09:59… I’m assuming that’s JPT - so about 5 hrs from now.

Applies to any order over 1,500 円 (which is like 2-3 books usually)

First 5 volumes of Yama no Susume free.

/edit reminded so hard how much I hate whatever the fuck amazon is doing behind the scenes for filtering, I couldn’t figure out how to find this again from discounts <200y arrange-by-price. Why doesn’t it turn up at the 0y tier? Absolute mystery. You would think having a system where people can find things they’re looking for would be a positive but I guess that’s not how selling things works

free for keeps

I think there’s a 無料 filter that you can search. It’s been a while since I’ve done it since now I just wait for people in this thread to tell me there’s good free stuff

I think this is the Kindle christmas campaign. I’m hunting in the <200y manga section

Toradora 1-5

All of the OG Hitori Bocchi

First 4 books of Gabriel Dropout

Railgun 1-3

Mitsuboshi Colours 1-4

Shinmei Shinmai 1-3 (sisters eating manga)

I can’t vouch for them but I saw Eromanga Sensei, Hataraku Maou-sama, Tsukihime

As noted elsewhere, loads of back issues of Harta magazine (where Dungeon Meshi is published, among other things)
