It’s been a huge help for me, language wise. Honestly it’s been such a good help that I should probably move on to a harder series, but I refuse because I haven’t seen the anime (yet) and I need to know how it ends!
Will add that the audiobooks for ひげひろ for excellent, if you happen to have Audible Unlimited, or want to buy them
Huge Sale Alert on one of the GL Book club nominations!
雨でも晴れでも 1 | L22 is on sale for 33 yen! (which means it’s 30 since outside japan you don’t pay the taxes)
edit: CMOA as well
Same for Kindle
Looking at the previews it seems that CMOA’s quality is the best for this series. I’ve never used them before. Is it easy to download and remove DRM from your purchased manga for that site?
CMOA and Bookwalker look identical for me, at least on the phone (I’m looking at the purchased Bookwalker version, maybe the preview quality isn’t as good)
Of course if DRM is your concern, then Bookwalker isn’t the go-to
I am actually able to rip manga from Bookwalker though (I don’t think I can rip novels, but I can rip manga just fine.). It’s a hassle to do, but it’ll be worth it to avoid the lower quality Amazon scan.
I was looking at it on my computer. CMOA and Bookwalker were pretty close, but CMOA looked slightly better. I wouldn’t be able to tell unless I was looking for it though. I was really just wanting an excuse to not have to deal with the hassle of ripping from Bookwalker, so I was hoping CMOA would be easier to deal with.
yeah ripping kindle manga surprisingly is still a bit easier than ripping bookwalker manga, and ripping novels is a whole other ballgame - at least nabbing off rakuten still works, for now
Some more ¥33 manga from Amazon (didn’t check the other bookstores). Some of them are the first 1, some are the first 3.
You can very much extract DRM and stuff yepyep
HakuNeko is one such option
It’s so hard to say no to 33 yen, even if I’m not sure if I’ll read it.
Poking through Amazon for the worthies not mentioned yet… (I do rec Shinmai Sisters though I haven’t read past vol 3 yet). Looks like a bunch of Yuri works are on there, maybe Yuri-Hime is running something?
Bloom into You (Yuri Romance) 1-3 for 33y
Even If It’s Just Once, I Regret It (Yuri, explicit I think) - Vol 1 for 33y
Adachi & Shimamura 1-2 33y
Whether Rain or Fair Weather ( 雨でも晴れでも) 1, 33y
Sakurai-san 1 - it’s like a lvl 15 or 16 on Natively, so good for beginners I think
I also saw a few Railgun manga on there, Hataraku Maou-sama 1,
And for the lols, Reborn as a Vending Machine 1 for 33y
33円 on Kindle store
I’d recommend 月姫 and やがて君になる… haven’t read the others
For what it’s worth: I saw the anime versions of these three and liked all of them. The first two I would rewatch any time. Btw: the manga of the second one is an adaption, the original is a light novel, actually a spin-off of some other series, but imho better than the original one. Edit: Just checked on Wikipedia: the manga was first in this case, last book so far in 2022.
月姫 seemed fine from the summary, but once I saw it was a Type Moon adaption I was like ehh. While I don’t hate Fate, the absolute overwhelming amount of Fate anime content (ranging from pretty good to awful) has made me averse to them in general.
I bought the four volumes of 苺ましまろ. Mostly just because I’ve heard of it before.
I’ve been reluctant on 三ツ星カラーズ since it looks really childish. But it’s by the same mangaka who did ひとりぼっちの〇〇生活, which is among my favorite manga. So for this price I might as well get them.
Also have to skip Railgun unfortunately since the Kindle quality is pretty bad. Would love to read the manga someday though.
Good to know. I’ve heard of them, but never seen or read. I’ll probably get around to them eventually

It’s a very different vibe and tone than anything Fate, fwiw, and there’s barely any connection (besides deep background lore stuff that you’d have to go digging for). You can honestly read it without ever knowing anything about Fate (月姫 came first). Fwiw the 月姫 manga is pretty universally praised by fans, and even Kinoku Nasu (the original writer of both visual novels) has said that the mangaka actually did a better job with this route of the story than he did. It’s especially nice considering it never got an anime.
Anyway, fine if it’s not your thing, but wanted to mention since it can really be engaged with as a standalone.

The previews on the mobile site seem fine to me (tho the furigana on the 2nd are less clear). Is there something I’m missing? Side note: the second Railgun one there is apparently a sequel to the 5th LN (or anime ep 20).
新米姉妹のふたりごはん has been vaguely on my radar, tho depending how cooking intensive it is, I might get bored (or push myself to get better at cooking vocab, and then be tempted to try Emiya Gohan again)

I’ll keep that in mind, thanks.

I don’t know, I’m going from memory but I remember thinking the quality wasn’t good.
Regarding the Index LN, I’m not a fan. The first season of the Index anime was awful, as opposed to the Railgun anime which is a lot of fun. This won’t surprise you if you know my tastes since Index is basically about an overpowered “always win” type male protagonist who all the girls love for no reason (i.e. a harem in disguise). On the other hand, Railgun is a primarily female cast and its main downside is that it’s occasionally shackled by being part of the Index universe and story.
Interesting… My main knowledge of them at this point is “the covers look cool” lol.
Do you think Railgun manga would be accessible to someone who’s never interacted with the franchise before? Or would it make a meaningful difference to read at least one or two of the LNs (or watch the anime?) first?
I don’t think you need to read or watch Index before Railgun, but keep in mind that about half the Railgun arcs cross over in some way with Index. But in most cases Railgun expands greatly on the story.

shackled
Yes, a 腐れ縁 relationship from my point of view

I watched the first few episodes of the anime and it was more cgdt than it was actually for children. I only stopped because I was having trouble keeping up without subs at the time. fwiw I picked up the discounted volumes.
