Coincidentally I just started rereading this!
It’s a joy rereading this!! (It was my first JP manga). A lot of the art is so beautiful and emotive, and revisiting the early style is really fun. Also it’s really interesting seeing how certain things many chapters later are already being set up (I’ll say no more)
Btw for those who aren’t aware, the story is loosely based on the Korean 3 Kingdoms period, and the names are all Korean, though the fashion & architecture have a lot of Chinese influence as well
Really looking forward to everyone’s thoughts & impressions. If it feels kinda slow at first, give it a few chapters
第1話
She’s so harsh
Oh right it’s all handwriting
Her hair really is a mess
Ok that’s really sweet tho
I wonder what’s up with Iru being so adamantly opposed to Soo-won. Seems pretty messed up…
WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY!!
第2話
Oh… Given Soo-won’s reveal, I guess that escalated quite slowly! I love the use of flashbacks in this, and how seamlessly they’re interwoven. I love how we learned so much about the political state in this chapter
Hak

and Min-Soo

. The loyalty and caring both of them show - and Hak’s physical prowess and protectiveness is really touching
I’m curious to know just what’s been going on that led to all this
I love the portrayal of both Yona & Hak’s disbelief. Especially Yona, you can really feel just how much her world has been shattered
第3話
That’s what he’s annoyed about?!
Taejun is so infuriating!! And the whole “but we can’t get directly involved” stuff. And Hak amazingly coming to the rescue once again

Seems some stuff is up with the Fire Tribe
第4話
As much as people complained about 2 flashback chapters in a row, I really enjoyed this one! Both for its levity and for how much it twists the knife in, once you’re back to the present.
In general I love these Yona, Hak, Soo-won flashbacks (this won’t be the last by far)
第5話
This is one of my favorite chapters in the whole manga, and it’s probably what got me hooked on the manga in the first place. I absolutely love the rawness of how broken Yona is, and how Hak copes with it, and the whole thing with the hair piece from Soo-won… plus the way the barriers are just totally broken down between Yona & Hak, and the fragility of the whole situation - you can really feel all of it.
It’s interesting to see how they’re handling being fugitives, and I can’t wait to read the continuation in the next volume.
