Japanese
I started at 11:15 local time and started by listening to 豆腐の角に頭ぶつけて死んでしまえ事件 | L30?? which I didn’t realize when I started was a short story collection, whoops! That said, I have been enjoying it a lot, the stories are darkly humorous. I’ve listened to the first three and thoroughly enjoyed the first two. The third was ok but eclipsed by the former stories. I’m currently 3 hours and 13 minutes into it.
French
I also listened to, so far, 29 minutes of French. I kept things simple by re-listening to the audiobook to La Passe-miroir: Les Fiancés de l'hiver | L32 (a book I’ve already read) but I might switch things up and find another French book to listen to.
Also I did my audiobook reading while out wandering around since the weather is great and I took some delightful squirrel pictures:
It’s looking like I may start at 2026-07-26T17:00:00Z. I’m going to be playing video games with friends, so if we play longer than expected my time may pushed to that night or Monday.
I have to say, I’m quite jealous of all the people who can listen to stuff while doing other things.
In my case my listening isn’t strong enough for me to be comfortable doing anything but laser-focusing on it. I was working pretty heavily on it last year and the beginning of this year, but I ended up taking a break because I feel feeling the start of burn-out on it. I’m starting to think it’s time to start dedicating time to it again, though.
Got my audioathon started. I’m planning on cleaning up some in progress shows from last season in Japanese, BUT, I also started watching the 1998 GTO drama. This is another fun, one time I watched this in Japanese without subs and had basically no idea what was happening and now I miss a few bits here and there but otherwise completely follow the plot shows. Progress is fun
Dinnertime now, but I’ll probably do some more anime afterwards and some Korean CI stuff before my next check-in.
I started playing Shinobi Art of Vengeance with Japanese audio. I’m already playing Final Fantasy IV in Japanese and I didn’t feel like thinking that hard while playing the game, so I am playing with English text. But even so, the Japanese audio sort of counts for this.
We watched 5 episodes of Rayearth and 2 more Pokemons. We decided earlier to see if we could hit 10 hours total, which means we need to watch 13 more episodes tomorrow. I’m off to bed now
I’ve listened 2h 47m this morning with the same 2 podcasts. I’ve made a mistake and check all Wonder Festival reports in one go while listening. I thought watching photos of new anime figures while listening would be easy, but it ended up being too much for me. I’ll probably relisten some episodes after the Audiothon.
I’ll try to relax and get rid of overstimulation and get into podcasts in few hours.
The tofu story is actually the next one up so I haven’t gotten there haha. They’re each different stories entirely. The first one was about serial killing / copycat murders, the second about err… Creepy artificial intelligence? Don’t want to spoil it. The third was about someone who was found dead with an onion shoved in their mouth, the fourth was trying for a little spooky/ghosty vibe.
It’s been pretty fun, I’m hoping I can finish the next story before my time runs out this morning.
