From the artwork at the beginning (with the names and ages) I assumed that Ui is Yomis daughter. But the way they interact and address each other it doesn’t seem to be that way. Either they are different kind of relatives (though even then I think Ui would address Yomi as aunt or something) or they are estranged.
Based on that last section, I was kinda getting 元彼女 or “had a crush on my friend who died, and adopted her daughter” or something… but estranged aunt/cousin seems plausible
Overall, I’m sorta hoping the story picks up soon. I’m also wondering if I should read without the audiobook. I think it might help me feel a bit more invested, and pay better attention (audiobook is great, it’s a me issue)… Otoh, it’s more effort
they do have the same surname. And they seem both of have inherited magic (I’m not sure if by genetics or by being taught). Maybe she had a crush on her sister in law.
I’m still reading the book but I haven’t reached this part yet
I’m reading this book after the club has finished

Regarding chapter 3. I went through it the other day looking to find the break point and realised it’s significantly longer than chapters 1+2 (roughly double). My feeling was it’s probably a good idea to split it into 3 or 4 sections, but thought I’d check in.
Something in the table in the OP is messed up, but my Kindle page count shows Ch 3 as being 90 pages, which is 3 pgs shorter than ch 1 & 2 combined. So I’m basing my vote on that for pg count
Week 4: This week’s was more fun. magic explanation, training, working out social Dynamics (sry that was supposed to post on Friday, but didn’t go through)
Plenty of opportunity to catch up - I did decide to split chapter 3 over 3 weeks due to its length, as well as the fact I’m reading so many things at the same time.
