So we could finish this volume on schedule then wait to start volume 3.
I have read along but didn’t comment or anything. I’ve been using this club mostly for pacing. I plan on finishing the volume at the current pace. A pause between volumes sounds good.
I’ll keep the club running as scheduled, but plan for a pause after we finish the volume.

Honoka’s sister!! That was fast and unexpected… Certainly wonder what Yuki is gonna do about this… Or if it really is was her sister, and not some sort of like hybrid clone or something
I like that we’ve been getting a bit more into the magic, while it’s still been on the simpler side. Intrigued about Yuki’s staff being just a conductor, and yet she seems unable to use magic without it. Personally I’d prefer if she can’t use magic innately, as it puts a good limit on her character - since like she said, if she loses the staff, she’s screwed.
Wonder if the bath with Ui thing is gonna lead to Honoka being jealous (I hope not)
Seems like the author forgot to put in sub chapter breaks for chapter 4. I propose to make the break at 33 minutes in at

That seems like a good cliffhanger ending point. If it were an anime, that’s totally where I would end the episode.

Week 6 - enjoyed well enough

The clueless about video games thing is amusing

This secret suspense is thrilling… Tho I assume it will be resolved with “yeah, it wasn’t her sister”… but damn it would be interesting to read the drama if it is
I like that Yuki and Ui get to have a sisterly relationship. It’s interesting seeing the different barriers that age and relationship create or break down

Not disappointed. Assumed it was coming, and wasn’t as dragged out and stupid as I feared it might be. Honoka wasn’t being like super jealous of Ui or anything, just pouting that Yuki won’t agree to bathe together, and wishing she could be in on the 魔術 stuff.
I’ve come across series before where the age appropriate character is literally jealous of the kid/younger character as if they’re some sort of romantic rival - which is just So Weird… and the story avoided that.
Honoka also feels insignificant compared to magic… Otoh it’s nice to see that the magic does have actual limitations
Yuki is so clueless to Honoka trying to be intimate with her lol… Which is understandable given how hung up she is on her lying to Honoka
Great that Honoka just asked her straight out of she did something upsetting - always nice to see
The training was cool, and nice to see Honoka mixing in with the 魔術師, and the mix of inferiority feelings with “don’t look down on me”
That was a lot of info at once… But if I got this straight, the running theory is Honoka’s sister did some deal with the devil, and is trying to get at Yuki’s father for some reason (that I didn’t totally catch), and so turned herself into a fancy zombie, and lured them out of the city? How would she realize they’re in Kyouto then??
I’m a little lost on what Yomi thinks she’s gonna be able to do on her own… Wouldn’t it be better to have them pool resources, and only make a last minute dash, if necessary?
Ah, ok. Your initial comment confused me a little and I wasn’t sure if it was just that you don’t want Honoka to be jealous in general or if it had to do with Ui being a child or something.
I completely expected her to be “jealous” the way she was. But it’s truly more pouting again because she was rejected when she wanted to bath with Yuki and didn’t really have anything to do with Ui.

I’m a little wary of jealousy storylines in general… Sometimes (like はなにあらし) they’re done well, but a lot of the time they’re done in a very forced, “I don’t buy that this character is as idiotic as you’re portraying them, and would feel or react this way” manner
Wasn’t expecting "I left home, cuz my 妹 was into my fiance, and she’s the most important to me
I didn’t really see Yomi & Ui as comparable to Yuki and her dad. She pacified Ui well tho, that was cool

I didn’t quite get the reasoning last chapter of why Haruka would theoretically have been the 元凶 of this whole meshugas… But will be interesting to see how it evolved, and just what’s up with Yuki’s dad
Yuki x Honoka conversation was less intense than I feared it might be. The "we don’t recognize this is romantic love yet " part afterwards was sweet
Otoh reading Yomi’s section after that was quite the buzz kill. Definitely makes you feel for her

I would have totally turned Ui down. Terrible idea, and betraying Yomi’s trust. Tho I said from the beginning that it would make more sense for them to to take on the thing. Also at least have breakfast first! And make her tell you the plan

Question on the schedule: the epilogue is 5 pages. Can we just read it together with the rest of ch 4 next week? It seems silly to wait for that

In the past I’ve often left the epilogue or おまけ as a break week between volumes. As we’re potentially planning a bit of a break between volumes that might matter less.
Is the series complete at three volumes?
I meant as a schedule adjustment for the whole club. Personally I’ll read them together, and just post the epilogue under a separate drop-down, so as to not spoil anyone.
And yes vol 3 is the end of the series.
