Hmm, I don’t really have any good emoji candidates off the top of my head for this book. If anyone things of any as we go along, let me know!

Also: this should be the only chapter in the book to feature any Kansai-ben for those concerned reading along.

That freaking dude.

Okay, done for this week. The spirit thingy doesn’t sound really nice, but that was expected

Maybe :imp: or :genie: ? I don’t have enough info to provide anything else with certainty, and there’s no “comb” emoji…

Lmao, what better way to jumpstart your supernatural book than your supervisor telling you to cut the crap and get back to work.

Alrighty, finished the prologue. My 関西弁 is rusty, haha, but it wasn’t too thick, all things considered. I’m curious what the writing/seal on the pot said.

Finished as well!

If you want a comb emoji there’s always 🪮 lol

It may be too early to tell, but I really like the writing style so far. The author is really good at setting the scene and characterizing the characters in a small amount of space. I could picture everything very vividly.
Also feeling grateful I live in a part of Japan where the regional dialect is close to 関西弁

I’m not sure if anybody else here is familiar with Kamen Rider OOO, but the spirit reminds me of Ankh

I’m really looking forward to continuing!

I struggled a bit with the dialect, but since the prologue wasn’t too long, it was ok. So far, some scenario/character setting and foreboding. Not much to comment on, but curious on how the story will develop.

Yep, like I mentioned before the rest of the book should be 標準語, so you should be over the hill. :muscle:

Just finished this week’s section. I’m excited for the next chapter! The characters were fun to read and I like where things are going so far.

I’m in the same boat as snowwater when it comes to Kansai-ben. Additionally, my reading level is such that I can’t really appreciate the artistry of the writing, but I know what’s happening. Which is good enough for me!

I also just finished. It was a lot of vocab lookups for me, but that’s to be expected since I didn’t plan to read this until it went on sale, so I didn’t pre-learn anything in jpdb. Other than that, it seems a pretty comfortable read. :tada:

Agreed! I really liked both the boss and the wallpaperer (is that a word?). They both had only a few pages of the book that they were in but I really got a sense of who both of them were.

I had no problem with kansai ben, but the vocab of the… Everything around the characters was hard to get through.
(Which is hilarious as I’ve just finished “Hen na ie”)

The characters are very easy to imagine and I like the way the author writes dialogue so I hope it’ll be more of this and less of construction/building names going forward

Not too worry; you’ll be leaving the construction site quite soon.
