Any spoilers, for the current chapters must be behind spoilers or detail curtains. When we get further in you don’t need to hide details that were revealed in previous chapters.
Always mention where you are in the book when discussing, ideally by chapter so people reading different versions have a clear point of reference.
Feel free to read ahead if it’s exciting! But please refrain from spoiling ahead of the appropriate week
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, cultural things, etc - ask! That can be part of the discussion too and I’m sure some folks would be happy to help.
Even if you don’t read the chapter(s) in time, you are still encouraged to post in the thread for that reading once you have finished it. I advise not reading ahead in the threads as you may see spoilers.
The first half of this chapter focuses quite a bit on the fight of King Kazma (うさぎ). In general, I’ve noticed I have a harder time visualising fighting scenes when I read them in Japanese, so it also takes me extra effort but I also don’t feel like they are so interesting. Since this is also a new character we haven’t met yet, I didn’t feel so involved in the reading.
The second part was more interesting. Natsuki is definitely hiding something (which I am surprised the main character hasn’t noticed yet) and I hope we will find out about it soon. The description of her family home was interesting, and the last bit of this week in particular was… fun (not for our MC!). I expect the pace will pick up a bit from next week onwards, which I look forward to.
So far this book has been a bit of a mix for me - the ‘real world’ sections are pretty funny, but the ‘virtual world’ sections tend to be harder for me to visualise and I don’t find them interesting.
I’m looking forwards to finding out what Natsuki has up her sleeve
I’m enjoying the real world sections more too, and at the same time I feel like the length and detail of the fight in this week’s section is definitely a sign of how important OZ is going to be to the story… Hopefully it’ll be easier to digest once it’s clear what role each world plays in the plot.
I’m enjoying the story so far, but I have to admit I’m a bit worried about keeping track of 夏希’s family. It seems like a large family, and I expect we’ll meet more members as the story goes on. I’m already concerned I won’t be able to remember all their names and relationships . The diagram in my ebook showing the family tree is of very low quality, so I’ve been relying on the text version I found on Wikipedia to help me out. I think I’ll be referring to it a lot as I read!
Finally started this book and read up to this week’s part. So far, not really taken by it. The OZ parts are a bit boring (I admit I might have skimmed the battle part a bit), imo and Natsuki seems to be a manic pixie dream girl - a trope I hate. but maybe that improves as we continue.
「……お祝いは、私の母に言ってあげてね」
poor Kenji.
