Please blur/hide any major events in the current week’s pages (however early they occur), like so: text here (that’s
text here
).
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, the story, cultural things or literally anything else related to the book — ask! There is really no need to be hesitant. If it’s something you are wondering about, chances are someone else will be thankful you asked first, lots of people enjoy answering questions, you learn something new, and the thread gets more lively. It’s a win-win on all fronts!
Don’t forget to put on your club-supplied cat ears for a more immersive experience while reading. You will find them under your seat.

I’m reading along
I have fallen behind and I’m planning to catch up later
Anyway, looks like he got a good deal here - even if he can’t actually use it to get 500% strength/speed, I guess it’ll make physical movement much easier for him as long as he has enough magical energy left.
And now, the training arc is finally over, right? Right? We can actually start doing something practical with all those new skills? Please?
I won’t say that I dread this reading each week, but it’s the hardest thing I’m reading right now, and the hardest thing I’ve read without audio before, so working hard to read and then have it be pages and pages of training that I’d much rather be montaged isn’t my favorite…
I’m hoping we get some payoff for all this training soon
I think at this point we’re like near the end of manga chapter 3.
edit: Okay, so I flipped a bit through the manga and tried to match the chapter titles of this light novel. I’m fairly sure that this whole light novel volume corresponds to the two manga volumes that are currently out, which means there’s plenty of action and interesting stuff ahead. So… don’t give up during the training arc, fellow readers!
Yeah, the manga is very much the “the good bits only” version. I feel like it’s still well-paced though; but I guess my point of comparison are those “my power is the weakest, but I discover in the first chapter that it’s actually the strongest and now I’m an adventurer!!” isekais
And on the other side I definitely don’t need to watch Nyango train in realtime.
Something halfway through would be great!
Glad to hear that! I have to admit that I got a little worried with the week being almost over and there being no posts except mine… and no likes on my post except from people who already read the book before either
I had a house guest over the weekend. I usually read Nyango first, but bc we had someone here I picked at my easier club reads while she was here and then realized today that tomorrow is the next section, so I had to finish it today
Yeah, like @shitsurei did I also picked some other readings first this week I’m still maybe 4-5 pages away from finishing the part I think, and will try to do so today. (I’ve been reading 変な家 2 and was really close to the end, so I just had to finish that first)
Oops, I did other important things minecraft last week and didn’t read any of my club readings.
Just finished this section. Honestly, I found it super dull. Something something 20 percent magic goes into forty percent training with the magic training body magic strengthening by ten percent while running for twenty percent training the magic and using the magic at the same time as the other magic and swinging the pole while strengthening by thirty percent…
So I think I’m bowing out of the club here. I’ve noticed that I’m dragging my feet reading it because it’s pretty hard for me, and since I “should” be reading it, I’m ending up not reading anything… I wanted to push myself to try a harder book (and I’ve wanted to read this one for a while now), but I think for my Japanese goals it makes more sense to focus on some easier books and then try to come back to Nyango in 6-8 months…
Aww. Maybe try to finish the next week at last? There’s like zero training - maybe actually exciting content will make it feel like you “should” and more like you “want”?
I’m about half way through this week, and that’s kinda what made me come to the decision. It’s way more interesting than last week, but I have 2-3 L27ish books that I’m also reading and I’m always just kinda wanting to read those instead… I feel like it just makes sense for me to get more reading done at a lower level than struggling with Nyango and then it taking my desire away to read anything else…
