Any spoilers, for the current chapters must be behind spoilers or detail curtains. When we get further in you don’t need to hide details that were revealed in previous chapters.
Always mention where you are in the book when discussing, ideally by chapter so people reading different versions have a clear point of reference.
Feel free to read ahead if it’s exciting! But please refrain from spoiling ahead of the appropriate week
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, cultural things, etc - ask! That can be part of the discussion too and I’m sure some folks would be happy to help.
Even if you don’t read the chapter(s) in time, you are still encouraged to post in the thread for that reading once you have finished it. I advise not reading ahead in the threads as you may see spoilers.
This is my first non-manga book club, so I thought the slow feeling I had while reading was just because of the weekly schedule. But like others have mentioned in previous weeks’ threads the pacing in this book just drags. We’re already almost 40 percent in and it feels like we’re finally getting started! From an editing standpoint our first glimpse of OZ would’ve been better if it had also advanced the plot somehow (maybe combined with King Kazuma’s exhibition fight?), and the story probably could’ve started at their current location instead of the school with a couple of well-placed flashbacks to show how Kenji found himself here. Then again, fans of the original work probably would’ve complained…
Speaking of pacing… I’m starting to work on the chapter 3+ schedule, and your post has me wondering about the currently weekly lengths… so I made a poll. Please feel free to chime in:
