Easter vocab this week, almost no mentions of ancient stuff.

Week 6

Masamichi is really going above and beyond on his first day. Just moving is already hell, but he’s, what, getting rid of his property (what happened to his clothes/books?), doing the cleaning and whatever only to come back home and start it all over again? Yikes.

Thoughts about the flat:

  1. Seems like he didn’t have to change names on the bills and stuff, I guess his rent covered everything?
  2. He didn’t have to look for replacement or warn the owners about leaving upfront (only the say before) - I’m so jealous of the ease of the process
  3. An app where people come to get your stuff basically overnight is cool. In my country people use Facebook for this and even setting all at “free” would take time.
  4. And uh, right, “coin laundry and bathhouse” - when you don’t have space for anything in your flat.

Masamichi is a romantic at heart, I see.
It’s lovely, and he’s optimistic despite what we’ve been told in the previous chapter.

It says here that it’s because he’s feeling better now that stuff can’t get worse - I relate - but hey, he doesn’t even think that maybe Shino will have him unalive people so Shino could safely eat them.

So Masamichi is definitely not as gloomy as we were told previously lol

/scrambled through your profile until I identified the other bookclub and now I’m heavily considering that one too lol/
I didn’t know that lovely anime I watched as a teen was based on light novels :face_holding_back_tears:

We have company coming this weekend, so I have to clean for company this week… plus I’m 70% through a book that is demanding my attention rn… suffice it to say I might get myself a little behind this week but I’ll catch back up if so

Week 7 - finished the chapter

Read it all in one go.
Masamichi is too diligent. If my options to cook in a kitchen I’m not sure I’m allowed to use and to clean the objects I’m not supposed to anger, I’d stay on my phone until my master (lol) comes back with clear instructions

I like how Shino’w attractiveness distracts us from the scene. Like, 110% of my brain went to the whole taking off necktie scene and stayed there tbh. Doll who?:rofl:

Whoops, you’re correct. Thanks, fixed!

You definitely should! No one’s posted yet because I think all the interested parties are busy and trying to catch up at the moment, but we’d love to have you!

Week 7

That was… a lot of descriptions about cleaning at first  but then we got some ‘action’. Interesting to see the explanation about the souls that stay in the objects. I wonder if the story will follow a general format of Masamichi getting into trouble due to a different object and being saved by Shino?

A nice, somewhat domestic section as 正路 says goodbye to the old and hello to the new. ご主人様 Shino continues to amuse as he insists 正路 takes bundles of cash so he’s not embarrassed by having a poor servant, and even 正路 has cottoned on at this point about who’s getting the good treatment here.

It was really nice that we got to see 正路’s dad calling him; I’m glad that his family keeps popping up. I wonder if there’ll ever be a point that he and Shino visit them?

Week 7

Super sleepy once again, but managed to wrap this up. 正路 continues his reign of (cleaning) terror, only to accidentally find out what 司野 meant by the objects having souls. I’ve always really liked this part with the doll; it feels suitably creepy each time I read it. I have to wonder what 司野 was up to outside that would require a tie, though. He doesn’t seem suited for polite society.

I’m just finished 6 and can finally contribute hooray! It was fun reading back everyone’s old comments all at once too.

Week 6 + General thoughts

I’m enjoying their dynamic! Shino is blunt and impatient but not aggressive. Forgiving the fact that he is a flesh devouring demon of course. It’s apparently just what Masamichi needs since he perked up so quickly. Actually, going all the way back to Week 3(?) I found Shino charming even when he was chowing down on Masamichi’s leg. :person_shrugging:

This part was a sweet symbolic, fresh start. It has me excited for what’s to come. I was worried that Masamichi’s transformation meant he would have to leave his family behind, so I’m very happy that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Difficulty: I do have to do a lot of lookups but it doesn’t feel frustrating. My main struggle is absorbing the scene setting portions. So Shino’s place is just a dirt pit with a low tea table in my head. Plus that shelf of knick knacks. Same goes for information about characters that I feel will only appear once, such as the landlady. I’m in too much of a hurry to get to the dialogue.
