I just finished volume 4. I will admit that I only bothered reading volume 4 because I (intentionally) read a spoiler that they finally get together this volume. As a result, I did really like the first 2/3 of the volume, probably more than most else so far in the series. While I do appreciate the time skip, the contents did feel a bit boring so far since it’s really just the start of a new story.

I’m officially in a reading slump.
Still reading 楽聖少女 | L30?? - over halfway through. It’s not even bad it just doesn’t inspire any desire to read more. The actual prose is fine, the characters are fine, and the premise - while ridiculous - is fine. It just kinda meanders between plot points though and doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere. Will keep it on the backburner.
I have started 宇宙生命図鑑―book of cosmos | L30?? , which I have been holding off on reading for just this situation. I’m expecting short, punchy, well-written science fiction - so far so good. We have a highly dimorphic all-female alien race and the main characters seem to be a pair of them, a museum curator, a priest, and his alien talking cat.

Do you often start book 6 of a series before even opening 5 4 and 3 and finishing 2 and 1?
First time experiment of this sort for me, wish me luck. The series is not in chronological order and I suddenly wanted to read what I’m assuming is the beginning.

NO.6 [ナンバーシックス] ♯3 finished this past weekend! As tempted as I am to jump straight into the sequel, I will instead be knocking out a few Flesh&Blood short stories first, and then moving on to FLESH & BLOOD 20 | L35 after finishing those.

I’m really in a slump when it comes to reading proper books. I have two that I borrowed a while ago from the library and need to return soon, and I barely cracked them open.
Instead, I just went for a manga “recommended” by Booklive, and read the 2 volumes that were free (for a few days). 最強で最速の無限レベルアップ(1) ~スキル【経験値1000倍】と【レベルフリー】でレベル上限の枷が外れた俺は無双する~ 月マガ基地 | L24??
As you can tell from the incredibly long title, it is based on a round-of-the-mill LN. Very wish-fulfillment-y (character is brokenly strong, harem, etc), but at least the main character’s personality is not complete garbage (still suffers from the “behaves normally → girls go ‘ooooh he is so nice’” problem; come on author, your character just performed level 0 “lives in a society”, there’s nothing to fawn over).
Still, it was fine as slop to read while braindead.

I finished 星くずの殺人 | L32 and it was an enjoyable read.
Not spectacular, and too much jargon for me, but fun standard murder mystery fare.
And I started 蛇にピアス | L30
which is only 100 or so pages, so it feels like I’ll fly through it. That said, I may take some breaks, as I think it’s fairly dark at points.

Finally finished adashima2. It will be a bit before I pick up the third book 
One day I will manage to read one of these on audio only.
Most of my reading lately has been from 魔法少女ノ魔女裁判 visual novel. I reached the halfway point today (at ~280k characters). It’s a good place to stop so I thought id focus on some other things a bit.
reading 藤本タツキ短編集 17-21 with my friends one chapter a week… I’m really enjoying it. I’ll probably watch the adaptations too.
For my phsyical manga, finished the first volume of ひぐらしのなく頃に 鬼曝し編, I liked it. I wonder if I could finish up my physical higurashi manga this month.
For novels I am reading スキュラ&カリュブディス―死の口吻―(新潮文庫nex) | L30?? but it’s kind of too hard…I can read it but I have to really focus. I find myself confusing character names a lot (I probably should just take notes..). I kind of want to read something else, but also curious about this one…

I started this third volume of the コーヒーが冷めないうちに series end of last week. I needed something calm to read. So far I like the third volume as well

Today I’m really disappointed.
One of my favourite manga of all time and probably the best thing I ever read in Japanese is ロジカとラッカセイ | L22 written by 紀ノ目. I absolutely adore it; it is so good, and if I could erase my mind and experience it again for the first time I would!
Then at some point I read 空っぽの少女と虹のかけら | L23 by him, which isn’t quite as good, but still a great read that I’d recommend to other people. Absolutely no regrets here; “masterpiece” is a really high bar to reach after all.
During the last few days I slowly struggled through his newest work, 赤ずきんくんの執着 1巻 | L23 (伊佐波 is his real name, I think), and finally dropped it today at about 72%. I almost never drop anything, but… I just didn’t want to continue reading. I didn’t like any of the main characters, the plot structure seemed kind of boring and repetitive, and I guess I knew going in that the themes (fairy tales and school) aren’t really my cup of tea, but I hoped that the author of one of my favourite mangas ever would make it interesting. Instead it became one of the very few mangas that I dropped before I even reached the end of volume 1

I read the prologue of 転生王女と天才令嬢の魔法革命 | L31 and it definitely gives off “wasn’t edited when converted from web novel to light novel” vibes. I didn’t particularly care for the writing style in general too, like one of the viewpoint characters narrates in ます・です forms which is just annoying. I’ll keep going for now and hope that the writing gets better, but we’ll see.

At least Ruri Dragon has a new volume out and Yomi no Tsugai’s next volume will release in 5 days or so, so I have something to pick me up.
