Final episode was excellent. Left a series review here
thoughts (spoilers)
My heart absolutely skipped a beat at their lips being super close scene!!
I thought the stuff with the other band was unnecessarily dragged out, and like the audience talking through the set of the band they came to see felt really unrealistic.
Wish the anime could have dealt with the eventual consequences of them getting found out (which I assume will happen at some point), and how they all deal with that - but I imagine that’s just later down the story. Also I roll my eyes at the perfectly timed fireworks… I get it, but still.
I found Otoha’s development/growth in this episode really interesting and satisfying. Early in the show, she felt very one-note (a not I enjoyed) - but over the last few episodes she’s been fleshed out in a really interesting manner
Also I’m in comment jail - someone else plz comment
so this comment doesn’t keep getting longer
Finished 忍者と殺し屋のふたりぐらし S1 | L25 - the final episode was solid enough. It gets a 3/5 from me in the end
A 2009 yuri that I get the impression is basically “unrequited yuri: the anime”… Which I’m in love with so far. Don’t ask me why I like unrequited love so much, I just do. MC is crushing on her best friend, who is also into girls - but seemingly everyone else but the MC. It’s slow and viby and atmospheric, but then randomly very energetic and animated. In some ways it kinda reminds me of リズと青い鳥 | L21 a little bit - tho it’s not that slow and anguished, and isn’t a codependent relationship.
Update: I finished it (only 13 eps). Turns out the anime only adapts the first 12/53 chapters. But anyway, I loved it as much as I’d thought, and indeed the anime is full of unrequited love and pining. Also it got a lot goofier than I expected at times
Update: I finished it (tho had to resort to EN sub), and it was amazing & I wanna rewatch it someday
2006 Sci-fi yuri by Studio DEEN. Linguistically challenging - lots of sci-fi vocab, but not Utena level difficult so far. It seems to be the sorta thing that’s gonna get really deep with military, politics, religion, philosophy, gender, etc themes. While I don’t care for some of the base mechanics - the usual sort of “why does the fate of the nation/world rest on teenagers, and what idiot would build tech that can only be piloted by minors?” and “why do are the spaceships activated by kissing each other and then the ship’s starter sphere thing?” sorta stuff… it’s overall got an interesting atmosphere. One of the main spots of interest is that the characters here are all born female, but at age 17 are required to choose their permanent gender (male or female) - except for the priestesses (ie main cast), who are permitted to delay. Anyway I’m only 2 eps in, but it’s interesting. I’m gonna try to take it at a moderate pace, b/c I’ve got other stuff on my plate rn.
I just realized https://www.gagaoolala.com/ lets you turn off subs. So I will likely pick this back up, since the new season is out next week. It might just manage to be the first JDrama I complete
