How many volumes are there?? Idk why I thought it was a trilogy. Like you said, I’d be really surprised if the anime got that far (even for 12 eps)… and I’d also be surprised if the anime was longer than 12-13 eps - tho I suppose it’s possible
But I can’t watch dandadan since I haven’t read my 100 shoujo series yet
It seems like everything is a sequel series this season, and most of it I haven’t seen the first season.
Even though I joke, I did watch the first season of dandadan because science saru. I might see how I manage with the jp subs turned on for this one. It’s way outside my normal listening comfort level.
By the end of the show, sure, but he’s definitely giving off 陰キャ(lite?) vibes in the first few episodes. The whole part where his old friend? classmate? told him that boys couldn’t like dolls and then he never talked to anyone again was definitely 陰キャ territory to me
I watch with my partner, so I can watch with English subs guilt free
I think someone said volume 11 finished adapting the original web novel, and now it’s continuing with original content. That said, the first four volumes felt like a completed arc to me, which is why I took a break there.
I may check that out. The manga looks too easy for me to spend money on, but the anime could be fun.
And “someday” was “half a week later” - this time audio-only, but rewinding lines, and checking the EN (to try to figure out the actual words) if needed… which was a very intense way to watch the show. I might try that in the future with easier shows. I ended up making 307 anki cards from it Anyway I left an obscenely long review, but tldr is I love this show - it’s a very ideal form of storytelling for me. Characters and world are very well developed, and action & romance were very enjoyable.
Actually this was convincingly explained, and I just missed it the first time.
Anyway, will be back to モーレツ宇宙海賊 S1 | L30?? now… so maybe I’ll try the intensive listening thing with that - which will be more productive, since it does have JP subs, and a jpdb deck!
I finally finished ふたりはプリキュア Splash Star S1 | L21 and I guess… in a nutshell… The show was really hindered by the decision not to stray too far from the original Precure so it ended up feeling derivative. Which is a bummer, because when it did it’s own thing in the last 10-ish episodes, it started getting interesting.
And I’ve started on the next show in the Precure series Yes!プリキュア5 S1 | L24 which I’m already liking a lot more. As you may have guessed from the title, there’s FIVE girls instead of just two. The first bad guy was a tumblr sexy man. It’s a good time. (Although they made the, uh, interesting decision to make the mascot characters transform into hot guys… one of whom is also a teacher at their school…)
One hour into the movie 砂の女 | L30?? and I already want to read the book immediately, but it’s probably still to early to do that. Maybe when the level goes down to L40
I’ve been obsessed with おっさんのパンツがなんだっていいじゃないか lately, and given that I had to add it to natively myself I thought I should recommend it! It’s about lots of things but I would say it’s primarily a family drama about growing as a person, and a really cute dog (and I say this as someone who is admittedly not a dog person). I’m watching it on Netflix but I don’t know if it’s available outside of Japan. Probably with a VPN? Anyway 今日のおすすめは以上です!
(also now is a good time to watch because there’s a film coming out for it literally this week!!)
Should I add a hot guy review to each season when I update my “where to start precure” guide?
It’s research I’m happy to do. I’ve always wanted to get into precure (I watched the first season ages ago and really liked it), but the number of episodes seemed really daunting. But now that I’m learning Japanese it’s just 1000+ episodes of, ahem, studying.
After hearing about this for the last year or two, somebody finally convinced me to watch it. 2 eps in, and it’s pretty solid and entertaining. The bad guys are a bit one-dimensional so far (actually there’s a prologue ep that fleshes things out), but the leads more than make up for it… also wow some of the people in this school are awful! Miraculously, Prime Video actually has subs for it!
モーレツ宇宙海賊 S1 | L30 has been really slow to start (and way too much fast sci-fi babble)… at episode 8, it’s finally picking up. To my surprise, Mercury Witch is actually easier so far (though I’d be a bit lost without jpdb decks for both). I probly won’t make much progress on it till I’m done w/ Mercury Witch tho.
Tried and dropped BLUE DROP ~天使達の戯曲~ S1 | L30 after 3 episodes… it’s like it was trying to tell 2 different stories (one school slice of life, the other horror-ish sci-fi), and interwove them very clumsily, while trying a bit too hard to be suspenseful and mysterious. Also I don’t really like the leads as a pair/couple, and was missing too many sci-fi words b/c no subs
