oh!!! thank you!!! I’ll add it in the offshoots then!
in that case I’ll close up the “what to do now poll” and ignore what was voted, we can read this first (since it was the voted thing anyways and I was being a dumbass for not noticing ) and we’ll read love bullet afterwards so that it’ll still be fair to those that voted otherwise
Since you’re running it (and thank you for that!!! <3333) you can either just decide when it suits you or poll it
personally I wait 2 weeks at least for physical copy readers but maybe they need more time or less time, I can’t say for sure
Huh? It’s just the normal winner for this round tho. I just thought I’d run the thread. It’s not like we’ve decided to read all 3 vols at this point
K I’ll do a poll in a separate reply. In general, happy to run threads for anything I nominate, since I know they can be a lot of work.
- Dec 15
- Dec 22
- Dec 29
- Jan 5
- Jan 12
- Jan 19
Is there anyone who is planning to read physically, and doesn’t already have a copy? If so, how long do you need?
Edit: whoops, I didn’t mean to limit to 2 choices That’s what I get for mindlessles c/p’ing
It’s ok, it made me actually think
Alright, it’s been over a week, and it looks like Jan 5 is our winner for start date. So I’ve closed the poll, and looking forward to starting w/ everyone then!
Luna kinda reminded me with her message lol
Since more than a week passed I’m also calling it for the tied nominations rule and what we read out of nominations and adding to the main post message
In case anyone else has a book club addiction like me this is of interest to anyone, there’s a recently put-together informal Class-S Reading Club. If you’re wondering what Class-S is, I’ll refer you to Class S (culture) - Wikipedia or エス (文化) - Wikipedia, but as a genre, it’s stuff like 花物語 上 | L38, or 乙女の港 (実業之日本社文庫 - 少女の友コレクション) | L30?? that tends to take place in all-girls private schools, with a sisterhood system, and mostly involves romantic friendships of various kinds (often transient). For the purposes of the club, we’re also including Class-S inspired yuri works like マリア様がみてる 1 | L29, 私の百合はお仕事です! | L27, or FLOWERS -Le volume sur printemps- | vndb. So selections for the club range from early 1900s (with modernized kana) to presently running series, and various media formats.
Historically it was a very strong influence on yuri, and nowadays some works incorporate elements of it in various ways. 私の百合はお仕事です! | L27 for example is set primarily in a Class-S concept cafe, and its drama is very oriented around the sisterhood thing (with some other elements); 青い花 | L27 has an all-girls Catholic school setting (without the sisterhood structure) and similar type of storytelling to マリア様がみてる (tho much nicer environment), etc
Anyway we’re still figuring stuff out a bit, but feel free to take a look, if it’s of interest
Hi everyone!
Please note that our next next read ラブ・バレット 1 is currently on sale for 50% off on both cmoa and bookwalker!
Amazon Kindle as well. Bookwalker apparently had additional 50% off and/or coin back stuff going on rn too: Sale and Promotion hunting - #842 by Biblio
Twist my arm why don’t you!
Okay I bought it, thanks for sharing!
By the way, are we reading all of 徒然日和 before Love Bullet or just the first volume?
as of now by vote it was agreed that we read only the first volumes of the things we decide on unless voted otherwise
so officially we start Love Bullet after a break from when the first volume of 徒然日和 gets finished
For me, it depends on my enjoyment of the first volume. If I like it, then yes I want to read all of it.
Whether I join or not almost entirely depends on whether I already physically have it or can get it easily
I don’t think it has been posted here yet. The 初心者のライトノベル読書会 Beginner’s Light Novel Book Club L20-29 is reading https://learnnatively.com/book/50d0aa123c/ starting on January 19th.
Home thread:
Probably everyone knows already, but it can’t hurt to mention it.
Heads up, we voted to speed up the pace with 徒然日和, so next week will be the last week for vol 1
Since I noticed that the people reading 徒然日和 will go on to read the rest of the volumes I wanted to make a vote on whether it’ll be officially part of the club or the rest of the club will read ラブ・バレット
Note that the default as of now is only first volumes of what we read
- yes
- no, continue onwards to ラブ・バレット
- idc
I voted no because it sets a bad precedent. Sure, this series is just two more volumes. But are we going to delay the main club if people want to keep reading a 15 volume series?
If people vote for it, then yes.
Other clubs (or at least the BL one) read multiple volumes before reading the next and it seems to work well. This club held polls before about when to start the next book (granted, I think always with exact dates).
I’m just so used to the WaniKani forum approach where the difficulty-based book clubs only ever read one volume of a series, and anything beyond that becomes an “offshoot” book club that’s run separately. I like this approach because it keeps things moving and always encourages new members to join, whereas reading a longer series would rarely get new members.
I had thought that we already voted to read all 3? Or am I getting it confused with another club?
I feel like there’s no universe I’ll finish this even in an offshoot bookclub, but that’s not the club’s problem
