Spoilers should always be hidden using spoiler blur.
When discussing a specific section, please mention where you are in the book, ideally by chapter so people reading different versions have a clear point of reference.
Feel free to read ahead if it’s exciting, but please refrain from spoiling ahead of the appropriate week.
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, cultural things, etc - ask! That’s a welcome part of the discussion too, and other readers will be happy to help.
Note: the end percentage for this week comes from my computer, on my phone it shows as 25%… As a hint, there is a physical break in the text after that sentence. My phone also shows a physical break around 23% which maybe even more confusing, I guess…
If you reach the break at そうして私の意識は完全に途絶えた。, well, it’s the next one.
キース was always my favorite, so I’m happy to reread this part. I remember really liking the part where the mother and father talk to each other, but reading it back… okay, how did you manage to live together for so long without figuring that out (even making a daughter in the process)
Finished week 2! I have to admit, Katarina’s growing on me. I like air-headed characters, but you need to really convince me, and I feel like Katarina’s taken some good steps forward on that path. Imagining Keith (?) trying to keep up with her is pretty amusing in its own way.
Ahhh that was so nice. The reading is just flowing so easily. I’m enjoying it very much.
Katarina’s mother is adorable. I love misunderstanding in romance for the final feels (silly as they usually are), but damn, in the og!game she lived with those thoughts until the very end of the plot. Nooo
Poor Keith was so worried to be doing anything. Why would you re-traumatize this baby, Katarinaaaaa.
And yeah, third falling-from-high-places in a row… i think Katarina should be confined to the mansion until she grow up mentally
I feel the same way! So much so that I just grabbed book #2 from Bookwalker (they have 60% coin back for a few days on the series).
I’m enjoying this book more than I expected to so far. It feels pretty formulaic, but there’s something about it that I really enjoy reading. And every now and then I get to skim 2-3 pages because it’s repeating the exact same conversation in a second pov
I really like Katarina’s character so far. I had faint memories of finding her too exaggerated the first time I read the manga, but I actually find her refreshing and silly in a good way - she doesn’t feel forced. And it’s kinda funny how she keeps accidentally getting hurt otherwise, it’s interesting to see how it seems that we will get a different POV at the end of each chapter. Keith seems really sweet though; I can see why he would warm up easily to Katarina. I’m assuming we might get a new character next? (Perhaps the prince’s brother).
She just broke your door with an axe. I’m pretty sure she is the scary one. (As mentioned by her maid too)
Also, I didn’t really care about it the first time I read this book, but I’m pretty sure the axe in the illustration is not the type you would find in a shed. Plus, she should not be holding it anymore…
In unrelated news, I won’t be able to post the new thread tomorrow (or very late).
Sorry for the delay.
I’ll confess to skipping the dialogue in his POV and reading around it instead (something about re-reading the same dialogue rubbed me the wrong way today)
Now I wonder if this books is readable by skipping Katarina’s parts and just doing end of chapter POVs instead.
He holed up there with the spare key. Katarina was very proud of her smart giri-brother.
She later reflects she should’ve tried lock picking with 針金 instead.
Just a touch behind, but week 3 done! Katarina taking an axe to キース’ door was both unexpected and the highlight for sure. Again, she’s got that ‘just-right’ mix of thoughtlessness and energy that’s more entertaining than I thought it would be. I wonder who’ll be the next boy to meet?
Agreed!
