Spoilers should always be hidden using spoiler blur.
When discussing a specific section, please mention where you are in the book, ideally by chapter so people reading different versions have a clear point of reference.
Feel free to read ahead if it’s exciting, but please refrain from spoiling ahead of the appropriate week.
If you have a question about grammar, vocab, cultural things, etc - ask! That’s a welcome part of the discussion too, and other readers will be happy to help.
So, regarding pace, the paperback has apparently 300 pages, which I find hard to believe, since the ebook version felt really short. Either the font is really big or there’s a lot of short lines…
Can someone confirm that/provide physical chapters length?
If no one knows, I’ll just set up a poll for pace based on feels (like going for a 10~14 weeks range as options)
Edit: actually, I can just start by adding the approximate values from the ebook:
Chapter

I am thinking of breaking chapter 1 in two to see how we feel about the difficulty. Other than that, maybe 20~30 pages per week would be fine.
By the pictures I have seen, it seems one of those pocket sized releases, ala konosuba, noukome etc, so I think 300p might be correct, when comparing to my other physical stuff I have.
Also the first volume seems to be thicker than the rest of the series.
Pacing poll aside, it seems like most chapters could be neatly broken in 2 weeks, considering their length (except for ch 3, which could be read in a single week).
Alright, voting on the start date show a pretty clear preference for February 2nd.
Everyone but one person who said they want to read the book voted for that date as well, so let’s go with that.
There are less votes on the pace poll, though. I am taking the administrative decision to not split chapter 1 for now (thus giving a taste of the 30 pages/week pace). If, moving in, it feels rough to some participants, I will retroactively split it and we can re-discuss the pace. I will leave the poll open until then.
I will post the tentative schedule later today, anyway.
Edit: the tentative schedule is up. Chapters are typically broken in two (it will make sense why), but the two parts are usually very different in length, so they would make for a very unbalanced schedule at the beginning.
Thanks for setting this up. I will likely join every other week, as I just prefer reading a full chapter. But, I will try to make an effort not to read ahead for once. Since this was my initial nomination, I am trying to be good.
I’m pretty surprised this book doesn’t seem to have an audiobook yet; it’s supposed to be fairly popular, right? And a bit on the “older” side for a villainess book, to boot.
Well, the thread is up.
I went back to the old (?) style of having separate threads, but I may be using a single thread per chapter to keep things a bit more organized.
