¥500 for used manga/books is obscene. I’ve gotten things from them with old used stickers for like ¥100 on it that they sold to me for ¥500. My guess is that they’re getting used books for close to free and shipping them overseas helps to move stock quickly and is still profitable at their costs to procure used books.
It was 300 yen a few months ago. But like I said at least for my case which is just books, even if they got every book for free they are still paying almost double the cost of the books for air shipping.
Hard agree.
It’s some sort of weird situation where I think both parties somehow think they’re getting the better deal. bc if Surugaya wasn’t profiting off of this somehow they’d stop their free shipping promotions.
The first omnibus volume of PARTNER(1) | L24?? (Unfortunately, the manga doesn’t seem to have chapter breaks, so I have no idea how many volumes of the original tankobon equates to one omnibus version. I’m considering adding the omnibus version to Natively to sneak around that…)
The cover for this one looked interesting, so I checked out the preview, and I liked what was available to read. I’m curious to know what you think of it when you finish it. I added it to my Amazon watch list to purchase if I see it on sale.
In my experience most Amazon Kindle books go on sale eventually, even though it may take a while (read: years). I’m not really in a rush since I have plenty of books to read in the meantime.
I think the one manga I’ve never seen on sale is 水域 下巻 | L33??, which I added to my Amazon wishlist in February of 2020. I think someone on Wanikani recommended the series, and I added 上 and 下 to my list, but only 上 has ever had a sale (65% off according to my records). I usually just add things to my wishlist and note the lowest price if I’ve seen them on sale, that way I know if a sale is actually a good deal.
Also, I just realized I’m talking an awful lot about digital media in a physical media thread… I’ll see my way out.
The manga and the anime both have absolutely masses of fan service (manga worse than the anime, and some of the character designs in the tournament arc are pretty awful – some of that was in “urgh, do I really want to continue watching this?” territory for me), so if that’s something that bothers you maybe steer clear… The mahjong bits are silly fun though.
If it’s CD Japan, you can ask them to remove it as long as they haven’t dispatched the order and they will refund the cost of that item. I did it when I realised I already had one of the books that was delaying my order and they removed it then dispatched the rest of the order wothout any issues
I’ll probly add a no-obi photo later. I really like the feel of the covers, it’s matte(?) I guess, and it feels really fitting for this series. The insides look way better than I was expecting - a million times nicer than the digital versions.
Kind of upset that vol 3 came damaged… not sure what to do. I was able to separate the pages with minimal damage, but you can still see the leftover marks on the side I guess I’ll end up replacing it eventually
From ガールズバンドクライ S1 | L24. First cd I’ve bought in years (just the 結束バンド live DVD before this). This one is a double disc (the Blu-ray is the music vids). The booklet is pretty cool! It did come with the bonus card, despite saying they were out of stock - though I would have preferred Momoka (my fav) or Nina. I feel like I should display it somewhere, but I don’t have a place/way to do that rn.
I really like those smooth, non-glossy covers. Really don’t like glossy covers. Though the rough covers are probably my favorite. Those aren’t particularly common though.
Depends on the particular cover for me w/ glossy. But these definitely feel cozier. Not quite sure if I know what you mean by rough covers (maybe like the NHKにようこそ edition I have?) Any examples?
Me misremembering the digital quality apparently… But also things blend together a bit better in the printed version. And something about looking at it on paper, instead of a screen that hits a lot stronger for me. I tried taking a pic, but not sure how much that can really translate…
(I definitely see a solid difference in the shading in the top and bottom panels…)
Yeah I get what you mean. The digital version feels too “sanitized” if that makes sense. Like it’s too white and clean where the physical version looks more genuine.
